Show : "T Tnteraountain news i BUTTE, MONT. Father English and his parishioners have been busy raising money for the new church to be erected iii Dublin gulch. The excavation for the edifice has been begun on the lot at Xos. 713 and 715 North Wyoming street. The property was presented to the parish by the Amalgamated Copper company. A scene of rare beauty and solemn ceremony was the new chapel of the Sisters' hospital. The occasion was the opening of the forty hours' adoration, an extraordinary honor that was granted grant-ed to the Sisters by Bishop Brondel for the opening of their fine chapel. Sister Superior Irene had announced that the chapel would be open to all persons in, the city w ho wished ' to visit the blessed sacrament, and throngs of admiring visitors came to worship and view the exquisite interior of the handsome, sacred edifice. The choir of St.. Patrick's school furnished fur-nished fine music for the high mass and for the other ceremonies. Father De Siere was the celebrant at the opening open-ing mass, and other priests of St. Patrick's Pat-rick's parish assisted him. The chapel as to its interior finish is one of the most' beautiful sacred edifices edi-fices in the west. The architecture is a striking work of art and the. decorations decora-tions are exquisite. The interior of the chapel was decorated and furnished by Mrs.'Largey as a memorial to her l!ij.3 husband. The lighting arrangements of the main altar with its rich drapings in gold and white produce a brilliant effect. Miss Clara Tooey, who for the past few months has been visiting her uncle, Mr. John McCormick on East Granite street, departed during the week for her home in Brookfield, Mo. Miss Tooey was one of., the young ladies most prominent in the affairs of the Catholic fair, recently held in this city, and whose efforts ' contributed so largely toward Its success. The many friends of this popular young lady look forward for-ward in anticipation to her return to Butte In the near future. Miss Dora Hennesy of Walkerville entertained at her. sixth birthday the following guests: Miss Mae Coyle, Henrietta Curtis, Delia McNulty, Mar-cella Mar-cella Shovlin, Margaret Sheehan and Gladys Vivian of Butte; Tressia McNulty, Mc-Nulty, Viola Johns, Flossie and Irene Marks, May Tregear, Ethel and Marguerite Mar-guerite Beley, Annie McWilliams, Hazel Castle, Dora Hennessy; Messrs. Joe. McBreen, Joe Johns, John Curtis, iommie oyie, jonn ana luiinnie Nulty, Nick Tregear, Frank Sheehan, Eddie Dougherty, Stewart Cameron, Johnnie Hodsan, James McWilliams, Charles Beley, Willie Castle and John Tregear.-' The young lady received many and costly gifts. Paddy Ryan and Mel. Patrick left last night for Ireland, where they will spend the Christmas holidays with the old folks. J. H. McCarthey'of Chestnut. Gaila-tin Gaila-tin county, ;s in the city, arid expects to make a trip to the coast and perhaps remain for the winter. Miss Clara Ward, sister of General Manager Ward of the Great Northern, has left for Seattle after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. A. Gray in Butte. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. McGinn, Miss Madelon Bartlett and Miss Jean Sullivan Sulli-van left Wednesday to spend the winter in eastern cities. - Mrs. W. B. Welch leaves Monday for Los Angeles, where she will spend the winter. Charles S. Warren, the well known Butte mining man, who has recently been in Tonopah looking after the interests in-terests of some Butte capitalists, has returned. C. D. McGuire of Denver is in Butte for several days. H. McCue. a Livingston business man, is in the city. Thomas E. Brady, the Great Falls lawyer, is in; the city. M. J. Foley of Pony is in the city and has accepted a permanent position here. Mrs. J. A.'McFayden of Walkersille I is visiting friends in Boulder. Jerry Callahan left for New York Saturday night to tour Ireland .for a Christmas vacation. |
