As St. Joseph's church near completion comple-tion its beauty grows apace and each new touch but serves to intensify the longing of priest and people to see the holy sacrifice offered 'in '.'a temple worthy the Divine . Majesty. A week ago the door was thrown open to gratify grat-ify the people's eager desire to see the stained glass windows, and as throngs of visitors filed through the sacred edifice exclamations of astonishment and delight were heard on all sides. Nor was the admiration misplaced; for. rarely does one see such works of art on glass. When all are so beautiful it is difficult to discriminate, but perhaps the windows most, admired, are t "The Crucifixion," "The Immaculate Conception," Con-ception," "St. Patrick" and "SK'John.". As a matter of course, the Hibernians maintain that "St. Patrick" is - the most beautiful of all, and they certainly cer-tainly have good -grounds for -their contention. It is. to be hoped that so much beauty will awaken. a deeper appreciation ap-preciation of the sublime ceremonies of r.Holy Church and a more keen : realization and more ardent love of the Divine Presence that will dwell therein, ' : The sacred concert to be given in the new church Thanksgiving promises prom-ises to be the event of the season. If ; enthusiasm, energy and unremitting devotion are. an earnest of success, then will it surpass anything of the kind ever given in Ogden. Judging by the sale of tickets there will be a respectable representation from Salt Lake City and the neighboring towns. |
