Show CHRISTMAS BELLS --By Merlin P. Ellwood Dedicated to the Right Rev. Laurence Scanlan, D. D., Bishop of Salt Lake. Ring out, ye bells of Christmas time, The year is dying fast away; Ring out a merry gladsome chime, For Christ is born on earth today. Ring out for all on earth below, In pity dry the orphan's tear; Proclaim God's love, His kindness show To all whose lives are dark and drear. Ring out, O bells, a welcome sound, And tell the love of Christ for all; Afar to earth's remotest hound Repeat the Blessed Master's call: "O, weary souls, come unto Me :; f-And taste Heav'ns eternal rest; My bosom shall a refuge be . To all by sin and care oppressed! I'il ; .. j "What though these sins as scarlet be, My blood shall wash them white as snow; O, doubting one, come unto Me, A father's loving pity know ! " O, Christmas bells, in mercy ring! Diffuse a blessing o'er the land, While Heav'nly hosts In triumph bring To list'ning earth our Lord's command. "Glory to God!" resounds the cry, "And peace on earth," they sing, and then The waiting angels make reply, In waves of harmony, "Amen!" |
