Show ST. MARY'S ACADEMY. Art Students Drop Into Decorative Line of Work. The catalogue of the academy 'library has been extended by a set of twenty-five twenty-five handsome volumes of the Ridpaih Library of Universal Literature, a. work through which the literary devotee de-votee may meet and make acquaintance acquaint-ance with the authors of every age and clime. f- ' The first general examination of the year occupied the first three days of this week in all the classes, and was for the most part written, this being deemed by the faculty a more thorough and practical lest, the papers of each pupil proving not only her knowledge of the subject, but also her ability and correctness in clerical" points. f For some weeks past, the approaching approach-ing holiday reason has afforded . the art pupils a plausible pretext for laying lay-ing aside their regular course of studies and dropping into the decorative line of work; and the departure is fully justified by the results. Among the many beautiful gifts now ready for. presentation, the pyrographic collection collec-tion is perhaps the most noticeable. Color has been effectively introduced into the designs, and many novel and original subjects, lend added, interest to the articlea. There are numerous styles of photograph frames in wood and ' leather, adorned with holly, chrysanthemums and other timely ideas, A large circular platque bears a line copy of the much-adorned head and bust of an Indian princess. the edg-e being appropriately bordered with beads and feathers, and the colors-par- I tieularly enhancing the attractiveness of this piece. A handsome mirror has on the back a fine copy of a Gibson head framed in a graceful wreath of holly. An elegant pair of slippers covered with pansies will surely beguile be-guile the recipient into dreams of flowery paths: while calendars and panels with pointed epigrams' "and clever caricatures will provoke genial and merry thoughts at every reading. f Roll of honor for amiability, neatness, order, correct deportment and observance observ-ance of rules, for week ending Dec. 10, 1904: Senior Department Misses R.
