Show KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. First Three Degrees Conferred on Po-catello Po-catello Candidates. . On Sunday last, the 18th inst.. the first three' degrees were conferred upon a class of over forty candidates at Pocatello, Ida. The first two degrees were in charge of the Pocatello council and the third was" conferred by the territorial depu-uty depu-uty supreme knight and his staff. The degree work was followed by a large banquet at McNichols & Wright hall, to which about one hundred and fifty knights sat down, including,. visitors visi-tors from Salt Lake, Ogden. Montpelier, Idaho Falls and Glenn's Ferry. A thoroughly thor-oughly good time was had and -the Pocatello brothers again -proved their well known reputation for hospitality. John F. Fredell. grand knight of Pocatello Po-catello council, acted as toastmaster and responses were made by Rev. C. Van der Donckt. chaplain of Pocatello council; Judge W. L. Maginnis of Og den. Rev. J. Nolan of Montpelier, Edward Ed-ward Fanning of Idaho Falls, -Jess B. Hawley of Boise. H. V. Meloy. Frank E. MeGurrin, Robert Canning and George Jay Gibson, of Salt Lake, and Dr. H. A. Castle and Judge Knowles of Pocatello. The visitors left for their respective homes on the night train, after voting this one of the most successful events in the history of the order in Utah" and Idaho. Pocatello and Ogden councils are now close rivals for first place in point of numbers in the two states, each having about 125 members. |
