The alarm was turned in from box 81 and a prompt response by the fire department resulted. A few minutes of effective and rapid work j soon averted the danger. An investigation investi-gation showed that the arrival of the chemical was none ton soon for (lip fire I had passed the incipient stage and was rapidly gaining headway. The damage was confined to the burning of an altar, al-tar, some carpets, pictures, etc. A large hole was burned in the floor and the walls are badly scorched. Repairs were commenced on Tuesday morning. Spontaneous Spon-taneous combustion is supposed to have caused the fire, as the room was unoccupied, un-occupied, and there were no electric ; wires in it. j |
