Show Doctor Wheeler on Bores. Benjamin Ide "Wheeler, the president of the University of California, talked at a dinner in San Francisco about bores. "Your true bore," he said, "must always al-ways preface his remarks with some lengthy dissertation, preferably of a historical nature. "Thus there was once a bore who presided at a banquet. AYhen he rose to begin the postprandial ceremonies he-thought he-thought hazily that he would say something some-thing appropriate and wise abotu food. So he waved his hand over the well-filled well-filled board and began: "Gentlemen, the practice -ahem the practice of eating meals is, we have every reason to believe, one which ahem one which dates back to the ie-motest ie-motest antiquity.'
