Congregations which completely filled every available space in Sacred Heart Catholic church, gathered to participate in the solemn and inspiring services which wrcre held there Sunday morning incommemoration of the second grandest grand-est day in the church calendar Easter. The church was beautifully decorated with palms, Easter-lilies and cut flowers, flow-ers, and the altar was so buried- beneath be-neath the burden of blossoms and foliage, foli-age, the bronze and crystal candelabra and other altar furnishings, as to enchant en-chant the worshippers and to inspire in their hearts mingled feelings of admiration ad-miration and devotion. Two masses were said in the church, at both of which Rev. Father Curran of Salt Lake officiated. The first service serv-ice was held at 8 and the second at 10:30 o'clock. At each of the services the congregation seemed to fully absorb ab-sorb the spirit of devotion and thankfulness thank-fulness for the opportunity of commemorating com-memorating the crowning incident in the events which led to the foundation of the Christian faith. The full choir of the church, under the able leadership of Mrs. Frank F. Nevin, rendered special music, adding largely to the impressive character of the service. This, indeed, was so well rendered as to leave an indelible impression im-pression upon the minds of the hearers and to Increase the solemnity of the occasion. Mrs. Nevin, though suffering from a bad cold, sang the soprano solo with splendid effect. Rev. Father Curran at the early mass spoke of the great lessons of Easter, and the hope that it inspired in the minds of mankind for a greater life in the hereafter than could be imagined imag-ined by mere man. The speaker dwelt upon the victory of Christ over death and the tomb, and of the inspiration that this thought should give to the Christian mind. This victory, vic-tory, he said, set the seal of divinity upon Christ's mission in the world the foundation of his church. Father Curran exhorted his hearers with deep feeling to let the spirit of Christ permeate their souls and fill their beings; he urged them to bury t'jr sins in confession and to resurrect f.-vilives, greater lives and cleaner I rrom that grave. aliope of life eternal, of an unend-Jlttre unend-Jlttre in which they would reap Jey had sown, either in reward - 13 1 l)t reward, should be an inspira-rn-rTThe faithful to keep close to , lilXi,.d to his church, i r'high mass at 10:30 o'clock Fa- '.rran spoke of the seven sacra- c of the church, dwelling on each, iSrsU-rnificance, and the benefits that follo their observance.
