Show CHEYENNE ,WY0. Interesting Notes From Academy of Holy Child Jesus. (Special Correspondence. Cheyenne. Wyo., Nov. 13. The. results 1 of the examinations taken during the month of Octoter show that the highest high-est places in class in the junior division were merited by Miss Lucile MeHugh in the second grade. Master John Jones in the third. Master Willie Dineen in the fourth. Miss Kat e Fuller in the fifth,' Miss Mary Howard in the sixth The recitation, "The Bell of Atri." by the girls in the sixth grade, and "Lit- 1 tie Tots" by the second grade children. I were well said, and the song "Cousin "Jedediah." by the girls of the third and fourth grades showed careful training. The musical exercises and pieces were given by Margaret Dineen. Mary Ellis, Ida Welsh and Elmer Carroll. Car-roll. On Wednesday, the 7th. the senior division had their class reports distributed. dis-tributed. The children securing the first places were: in the seventh grade Miss Madeline Farlev, in the eighth Miss Christina Arnold. Miss Ethel Warlaumont in the first year high school. Miss Nellie Barlow in the second. sec-ond. Miss Ju'ia Brown in the third Miss Rolla Morse in the fourth. Miss Christina Arnold recited "A Legend of Saint Philip." and Miss Gertrude Ged-' des, "Hagar in the Wilderness." Both were well done. Miss Nellie Martir read "A Sketch of the Life aijd Works of Joaquin Miller." telling in particular particu-lar how ho has been honored at the Portland exhibition, and reciting at its close "The Son" of the Sierras." Thosi playing technical studies on the piano were Misses Jennie Erooks. Anna Ketchum. Ora Murphy. Georgie Sullivan, Sulli-van, Carrie Welsh, Ethel Warlaumont and Katie Fink. Miss Mary Smith played a pretty selection on the guitar, and Miss Mildred Ketchum one on the violin, -being accompanied by her sister. sis-ter. The children's choir are preparing prepar-ing a new mass for Christmas, and all are. working hard at it. As they had the honor of singing at high mass on Sundays for Ihe past month, they are -particularly anxious to learn something new. Miss Carrie Welsh deserves praise for, the. way she has played the organ. The calisthenics exercises and drill given by the boarders of the academy last Sunday evening was very well done, showing how well they attend to the physical culture lessons which are given several times a week. Their musical mu-sical examinations prove that careful practice is needed to secure a successful success-ful mark. The convent , orchestra has learned several new numbers and looks forward eagerly , to the practice of the others sister has waiting for them. Word has. been received in the city from Tokio, Japan, of a dinner given on Sunday. Oct. 22, by Captain and Mrs. John J. Pershing, to Hon. William Jennings Bryan. Mrs. Pershing was formerly Miss Frances Warren of this city. Among the guests invited to meet Mr. Bryan were the Marchioness and Miss Oyama, wife and daughter of the famous Japanese field marshal; General Gen-eral and Mrs. Arthur Mc Arthur, General Gen-eral 'Murata of the Japanese army and Captain Clover of the United States army. Captain Pershing- has completed his detail with the Japanese army in Manchuria and resumed his duties as military attache at the American legation lega-tion in Tokio. -4 Miss Mary McCloskey entertained charmingly at her home a few of her friends. -The evening was spent very delightfully in music, singing and games. A delicious supper was served during the evening at a late hour. The guests departed for their homes, all expressing ex-pressing a pleasant evening. Miss McCloskey Mc-Closkey and guests were: Miss Nellie Wall, Dalila Henry, Edith Stafford, Maggie McCloskey, Polly O'Leary. Mary McCloskey, Messrs.
