Show COUNSEL FOR IMMIGRANT GIRLS. The immense advantage to Irish Catholic female fe-male immigrants to the United States of the protection pro-tection and guidance afforded by the Mission of Our Lady of the Rosary. State street, Xe.w York, is well known and "appreciated in Ireland, as is evidenced by one of 'the "resolutions"' passed at the recent meeting of ihe Irish Catholic Bishops in Maynooth College, in which girls intending to emigrate to America are thus wisely counseled: "On lauding tat Ellis island, Irish girls should look to the officers of the Mission of Our Lady of the Rosary for guidance, and never trust themselves them-selves independently to the direction of persons wh offer to befriend! them as relatives or acquaintances acquaint-ances from the some. neighborhood in Ireland." As to trusting relatives or acquaintances, tho Bishops go on to say that: "Apart from the danger of deception, whieliis-a very real one, parents at home should recollect that not every relative in America is qualified in himself and his surroundings surround-ings for the responsibility of safeguarding tho unsuspecting innocence of youthful emigrants." A truth which it is to be feared many an Irish emigrant emi-grant girl has learned by unpleasant experience. Xew York Freeman's Journal. v, . f |
