Jtev. II. L. MeMenamin led the children's chil-dren's choir singing: the Gregorian chant. A sermon touching upon the life of Sister Nolasco was delivered by Rev. Father Donovan. He drew from her life a lesson of peace and harmony and told how lnjr delight was to bring to-pether to-pether friends whom a slight misunderstanding misunder-standing had separated. Sister Nolas- Ico's dying- words were: "My God! . My God! My God: And this little incident furnished a. pleasant theme for Father Donovan's words. Church Notes. Throughout Conejos elaborate preparations prep-arations are in progress for the celebration celebra-tion of the Feast of Our Lady of Guad-ahuipe Guad-ahuipe on December 12. Kvery year pi-oplc from every part of the southern district gather at Conejos to observe ihe day. The sodality is raj. idly increasing in-creasing in membership and enthusiasm enthusi-asm is at a high pitch. Sacred Heart College. Mr. Richard Mansfield's several appearances ap-pearances in Denver are certainly appreciated ap-preciated at the college. Wednesday evening the members of the junior class saw this famous actor in Shakespeare's Shakes-peare's "Richard the Third." Thursday night the senior class witnessed Mr. Mansfield's exclusive version of "Dr. .Ickyll and Mr. Hyde." And I'"riday afternoon the various classes that arc studying ShaUespear's works saw "The Merchant of Venice." Chief of the Fire Department "Terry" Owens and his wife paid a visit to the college last Sunday. I The members of the senior class are busy occupied in making preparations for the staging of a play. The title has not yet been announced, neither has ihe date for presentation been made known, but the c hances are that it will eoine off some night next week. The object .in giving a play at such an early date in the term is to open the new hall. President Michael Dosch is at the head of the arrangements. Mr. AY. H. Colburn. the prominent real estate agent and capitalist of Colorado Colo-rado Springs, was a visitor at the college col-lege last Thursday. Mr. Colburn has a son in the academic department. The Feast of Saint Stanislaus was fit-ingly fit-ingly observed last Monday. Fr. Hyde delivered a beautiful panegyric on the life of this Saint, which indeed was highly appreciated by all the student;;. , A large number of both sodalities received re-ceived Holy Communion at the students' stu-dents' mass. In celebration of this feast a holiday was granted to the students of all departments on Friday. Rev. "William Lonergan. S. J., vice- president of the college, who has been seriously jlj for the past week, is much improved to the great delight of the students. Rev. Fr. Schimpf, S. J., professor of 5 the junior class, was called to assist at the services at Sacred Heart church last Sunday. Sacred Heart Parish. The members of the Young Ladies' Sodality have completed all arrange-' moms for their second dance of the season which is to be given at Hynd-man Hynd-man hall on the night of Nov. 2?.. Miss Planch Horau. Miss Florence 1 loverly : and Miss Adelaide Mongum are in charge. The first dance which was; jriven a short time ago was a success, and the young- ladies promise that the next will be equally delightful. I The alrr-ady strong choir which assists as-sists at the ?:;0 mass has been considerably con-siderably strengthened by Miss Rose Mlf. This young lady was formerly of Trinidad and is a splendid alto singer. f A new series of lectures was commenced com-menced last Sunday at fl:G0 o'clock mass by Rev. Father Swift. S. J. These lectures lec-tures are on "Religion" and will be continued for several Sundays. Rev. Father Schiller, S. J., president cf the Sacred Heart college, was a guest at the pastoral residence on Monday Mon-day last. |
