Show When Sewing on Buttons. It is always wise when sewing buttons but-tons on underclothes or overcoats to fasten the stitches over a pin, which is first laid on the button itself; this will keep the threads from pulling up too tight and will allow for the thickness thick-ness of the material through which the button is to be passed. When fastening white bone buttons on children's underbodies, it is better to place even a larger substance than a pin on the button, and sew over and over, so that the threads will form as thick a fastening as the tape, which is sometimes used for the purpose. This same idea may be carried out in sew-iing sew-iing on glove buttons, for it will prevent pre-vent their falling off so frequently and so inopportunely. |
