Show I DURANG0, COLO. i : i (Special Correspondence.) The second annual commencement at the Sacred Heart school. Fifth avenue. South Durango; took place on Tuesday evening, May 19 at 8 o'clock. T.. were the guests of honor at the closing exercises of the Sacred Heart school. The children acquitted themselves with much credit. The interludes consisted con-sisted of piano and violin solos. Miss E. McGregor presided gracefully and graciously at the piano, and Joseph Cordova, one of the pupils, accompanied accompa-nied on the violin. The pantomime and song, "Lead Kindly Light," was one of the most pleasing numbers of the program, Another An-other of the pretty effects was the "Daisy Drill" by the junior girls. Each number was well taken, and the excellent manner in which they were rendered seemed to surprise the audience. au-dience. The program being completed, then followed the awarding of certificates and premiums of merit bv the pastor, Rev. J. B. Liciotti, O. T. fAter the distribution dis-tribution Rev. Father addressed the children and parents in Spanish. He then Introduced Rev. Kierdorf, C. S. S. R., who addressed the audience In. a few well chosen words. He dwelt upon the necessity of Christian education. He sketched the lines of real education, and showed h6w dangerous are the useless use-less ornaments which make neither for beauty nor for solidity. Their singing shows careful, care-ful, painstaking preparation under the guilding mind of a faithful instructor. |
