Show Crozier Presented to Bishop Carroll.. . A crozier war presented to Bishop John P. Carroll. Dec. 27 by Dubuque council. Knights of Columbus, at a banquet held at the Julien. . . The council had planned the event fcr weeks and nothing was left undone. The dining room was elaborately decorated deco-rated for the occasion. The banquet ! table was laden with the choicest of the season's delicacies, and all harmonized har-monized into happiness. Grand Knight C. A. Voelker acted as the toastmaster. To Judge Lenehan befeil the duty and pleasure to present the golden staff to the new bishop of Helena. In the course of his remarks the speaker emphasized the fact that tributes, rich and glowing, had been ' paid Bishop Carrol! during the past j j week, and he said it would be useless for him to attempt the same. He spoke interestingly of the great work done by j Bishop Carroll in the college, the good he has accomplished in the instructions to young men and his elevation to even as much if not more. In speaking of John Carroll, the brother knight, the judge brought back memories of other days and delighted his hearers with the manifestation of his personal Interest in the bishop. . In reply the bishop thanked the members mem-bers of the council and said the crozier is the bishop's guiding staff, and he ! would keep it. thinking of thOBe who ! gave it, and the lives that they had led while he uses it to find his way in the far west.
