Show FIGHTING THE TREATY. The Ancient Order of Hibernians of Massachusetts, numbering about U0.000 members, went on record as opposing a treaty of arbitration between the United States and Great Britain. A letter pf protest inclosing the resolution resolu-tion was sent from the. state headquarters headquar-ters to the presidents of each division of the order. The resolutions declaie "that the ratification of the treaty! coupled with the willingness of Secretary Sec-retary of Stale Hay to lake concurrent action with the English government in all the important questions, may precipitate war with one or more of the great' powers of the world." Continuing, the resolutions say; "Such a treaty of arbitration, thus obtained, ob-tained, will have all the force and effect ef-fect of a treaty of alliance would hae, and concurrent action . with England under these conditions wouiJ. inevitably load to war without the consent of con-grFS." con-grFS." ......... .... . . . |
