Show Noted Woman Convert. Friends of Dr. Sarah Hackett Stevenson of Chicago Chi-cago were surprised to learn Sundav that she "had become a Roman Catholic- She has been a patient of St. Elizabeth's hospital for manv months aud it was while there that she decided upon a change of faith. "Dr. Stevenson is a woman of strong relinou feeling," said a friend recently. "She was a de vout Episcopalian and member of Father Larra-bee's Larra-bee's church, but I never thought she wouljj become a Roman Catholic." "Dr. Stevenson is one of the most" noted woman physicians of the United States. A gn duate of the Illinois State university, she studied at the South Kensington Scientific school in London and' in 18 1 3 was graduated from the Woman j Medical college. She was the -first woman, meml er of the. American Medical association and she ah 0 was the first woman member of the Cook count hospital in Chicago. She founded the West Sid., hospital and also the Training School for Xursc, ry Maids. She is the author of several books aud a number of pages on medical topics. I |
