Show Variation in Butterfat Tests Dairymen are often puzzled at the wide variation that occurs in the per cent of fat in the milk of their cows when they are tested, according to' Chas. W. Turner, Missouri College of, Agriculture. Many times the fat content con-tent varies widely from milking to milking and from day to day. The feed, the interval between milking, the condition of the weather, and the condition con-dition of the animals are often assigned as-signed as reasons for the dally variations varia-tions that occur. There are other variations vari-ations that occur during the lactation period and from one year to another. These variations are probably caused by the season of the year, the stage of lactation, and the advancing age of the animal. |
