Show Gunnison Defeats ML Pleasant, 9-8 Sunday's Schedule. Gunnison at Ephraim. Manti a- Fairview. CCC at Moroni. Spring City at Mt. Pleasant. With Rellis Sorenson's masterly performance on the rubber for the Gunners, and Manager Bert Eggert-sen Eggert-sen slamming two home runs, and timely hits by others in the Gunner line-up, the locals smashed through to victory Sunday when they shoved Mt. Pleasant to the background by a score of 9 to 8. Naturally there were errors on both sides, but the game from a scientific standpoint was a thriller. Sorenson, the touty pitcher, was credited with striking out 19 men in the nine innings. While he granted 11 hits, his support was good and a possible higher score was held at a minimum. Mt., Pleasant suffered shut-outs for the first 4 innings. In the next four innings the vis'tors did their counting, and at the close of the eighth the score was 8-all. Mt. Pleasant was blanked in the 9th, and the Gunners slammed the winning score in their half of the last inning. None of the Gunners were out when the victory run was made. Gunnison opened her first appearance appear-ance at bat with sending in five runs. Single counters were made in the 3rd, 5th, 8th and 9th innings.' A flock of errors were responsible for Mt. The first game played was on the local diamond at 1 o'clock, and was a real treat for the Independence day visitors. Manti edged out by a close score of 4 to 3. Sorenson and Nielson formed the battery for the Gunners, while Larson and Barton performed for Manti.
