Show W. P. A. Engineer Seeking Projects Ben H. Beveridge, district engineer engi-neer of the Works Progress administration adminis-tration for this district, with headquarters head-quarters at Richfield, spent Tuesday in Gunnison conferring with Mayor Modeen and other city officials with a view to outlining some project that may come under the governmental plan in the spending of the four billion eight hundred and eighty million mil-lion dollars throughout the United States as a relief measure. Mr. Beveridge stated that he was visiting the many towns in his district, dis-trict, making surveys and contacting city officials on possible projects. As yet, however, 'his local department has not received any definite information infor-mation as to how and when the projects pro-jects will be started, or when the funds will be available. Under the FERA set-up, Gunnison had filed applications for funds for several projects, primarily among which was the building of a main p:'peline from the water tower north of town to the south limits of the city. Other projects were sought, but with the switching of the alphabetical alpha-betical line-up, projects under the old plan were halted, and now, with the allotment of funds from the huge appropriation, there will be a new program. Mr. Beveridge announced before returning south that a meet'ng of the several committeemen in the county, the city mayors and city councilmen, would be held at Ephraim Eph-raim Monday, July 15. At this time the engineer hopes to have more definite def-inite information and will be able to give the complete new set-up, which will enable applicants to outline their projects and submit them to the proper authorities. |
