Show Heavy Snow Storm Pleases Populace Gunnison Valley's "million dollar" storm, which prevailed all during Tuesday and late Tuesday night, brought happiness to everybody, and the farmer, stockman, merchant, waded wad-ed through the snow and slush without with-out complaint. The storm, according accord-ing to advices, was general throughout through-out the state, north, south, east and west reporting both snow and rain in goodly quantities. On the desert, where thousands of sheep are grazing graz-ing on the winter ranges, the storm will prove invaluable. The ranges, it is said, were decidedly poor, due to early fall storms and many herds were kept in the valleys where hay was being fed. According to reports, the snowfall in the mountains east, is packed more deeply, with a heavier water content than at any time during last winter. It is said that the storm of about ten days age resulted in more than four feet of snow in the watersheds east of Ephraim, with a similar condition in Twelve-Mile canyon. The earlier snow was heavy with water content, and the fierce winds prevailing at the time piled the snow deeply in the ravines. Tuesday's storm was preceded pre-ceded with a heavy downpour of rain and with the ground thoroughly soaked soak-ed and the assurance of more snows during the winter, .an abundant supply sup-ply of water is looked for during the coming year for crop purposes. |
