Snowfall Records Best In Ten Years Snowfall records for the past ten years, according to official advk a from the Manti National forest hea .-quarters .-quarters at Ephraim, have been smashed this year, and an ample supply sup-ply of water to care for all irrigation! i purposes, and which will result in f;u-ing f;u-ing the reservoirs to a higher point than for many years past, 13 now assured. as-sured. Indications are that later storms will add to the supply already al-ready recorded. Messrs. Thursby and O'NSel, of the forest department at Ephraim, completed com-pleted the measurements at the Great Basin Experiment station Monday and the report is highly gratifying. The report given by the forest officials shows that 3.50 inches of nacdbtaw fell during the month of January, and that 43.7 inches of snow now blankets the ground. This snow carries car-ries a water content of ll.&l inches. The average water content and th snow depth for the past ten years at the Great Basin Experiment station, on February 1, shows a snow depth of 36.5 inches, with a water content of 8.02 inches. The water content at this date exceeds ex-ceeds by 3.49 inches the average for the past ten years. It also exceeds thf) best year during this period, 1923, by 1.10 inches. The snow is heavy and well distributed dis-tributed over the country, the officials offi-cials report, and even the south slopes of the mountains and valleys hold a solid covering. With a favorably warm spring, an excellent water gup-ply gup-ply will be assured. |
