Show Fathers and Sons Guests of Honor An elaborate banquet, two appropriate approp-riate programs, a big crowd and a day filled with enjoyment and happiness, happi-ness, marked the entertainment of the "fathers and sons" at Centerfield last Thursday. The affair, arrange! and staged by the bishopric and Aaronic priesthood of Centerfield, proved the real social event of the week at the sister town. Early Thursday Thurs-day evening a big banquet was served, being exclusively for fathers and sons, and 162 were seated around the banquet table which, was ladened with delicacies that appeal to a sharp appetite. ap-petite. Chas. E. Embley was master of ceremonies and acted as toastmaster at the banquet table. Among those responding with toasts were Bishop C. A. Peterson, Niel Buchanan, A. Barlow, Leon Embley, Miles Jensen, Edward Christensen, Gerald Myrup, all of Centerfield, Chas. Ramussen of Gunnison, and Milton Knudsen, president presi-dent of Snow college at Ephraim. The large table was cleverly decorated, decorat-ed, the national colors being used in profusion. Place cards were marsh-mallows, marsh-mallows, mounted with a tiny American Ameri-can flag. The flags were later used as admission tickets to pass the bearer bear-er to the banquet, program and dance. During the banquet a suitable musical program was given, and was directed by Gilbert Fjeldsted, and among the numbers given were: Solo, Mrs. Ervin Stevens; reading, Mav Barlow; vocal solo, Miss Audrey Christensen. This closed the early program and at seven-thirty a second interesting meeting was held. Anderson, vho was in charge of arrangements of the meet'ng, gave a welcome address ad-dress Bishop C. A. Peterson gave 'i greeting address to the priesthood. Dr. Knudsen gave the main address at the evening meeting. Musical numbers num-bers were furnished by a male quartet quar-tet and Quinten Bardsley gave a vocal solo. Other numbers were a stringed selection by Archie Buchanan and Ernell Christensen, duet, Mont Hansen Han-sen and Clarence Myrup. A comedy farce, entitled "The Little Red Mare,"' 'n which Alvin Barlow, Wells Anderson Ander-son and Wesley Christiansen took part, was the concluding number on the program. About 325 citizens attended the evening program, following which a lively dancing party was held. |
