Show Many Courses Are Offered U Studes Freshmen entering the University of Utah this fall will take their English Eng-lish placement and psychological examinations ex-aminations Wednesday, September 21, and will register during the next three days, September 22, 23 and 24, according ac-cording to the annual catalogue of the university, just off the press. Registration Regis-tration for other students will take place the following Monday, September Septem-ber 26, and class instruction will commence, com-mence, Tuesday, September 27. Thirteen hundred courses in more than forty departments are listed in the college, copies of which were mailed last week to the five thousand five hundred students who graduated last spring from Utah high schools. Leroy E. Cowles, professor of educational edu-cational administration, has been selected se-lected dean of the newly created lower division, in which all freshmen, except those in the school of mines and engineering, en-gineering, will be registered. Lyman Duther Daines has been given the post of dean of the school of medicine, medi-cine, and Jean Slavens is the new dean of women. A total of nineteen promotions in the faculty is announced. an-nounced. New faculty members, varying in rank from associate professor to assistant, as-sistant, number sixteen. Seven members mem-bers return this fall after leaves of absence; eight have been granted leaves, and four others will continue on leave. Printed class schedules will be available for distribution August 12, according to advice from the president's presi-dent's office. . |
