Gunnison, 10; Nephi, 5. Salina, 7; Elsinore, B. By winning in a fast game from Nephi, at the latter city last Sunday, Gunnison stepped into a tie with the Wheat City boys and Elsinore for honors in the last half's play of the Southern Utah Baseball league.' The three teams closed with only two victories vic-tories each, losing four out of the six games played. Salina, by defeating Elsinore in Sunday's contest, made a clean sweep, both in the first and second sec-ond halves, by winning twelve straight games. The boys from the sister city to the south are among the first to break the luck of Nephi, who won league honors for two years in succession, and will take part in the state tournament, scheduled for September Sep-tember 9, 10 and 11. In the contest Sunday at Nephi, resulting re-sulting in a victory for Gunnison by a score of 10 to 5, the locals showed some rare ability. Walt Villard, pitcher pitch-er for the Gunners, was in good form and the 7 hits allowed Nephi were scattered. At no time were the Gunners Gun-ners in danger. Villard's support was high-class and the Gunners were credited cre-dited with only 2 errors. Gunnison (Continued on last page) Gunnison Victors In Closing Game (Continued from page 1) scored the first inning and took a rally ral-ly in the second, when five tallies were scored. The other four runs were picked up while "coasting" along to the ninth. Christisen, on the mound for Nephi, was easy for the Gunnison bunch. Christisen allowed 14 hits, but was credited with striking out 11 of the Gunnison boys. GUNNISON. B. H. O. A. Stubbs, cf 5 3 10 N. Childs, 3b 5 112 A. Villard, c 5 0 9 1 W.
