Show LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Mr. and Mrs. Don Pence and children, child-ren, guests of relatives here for the past ten days, left Tuesday morning for their home at San Leandro, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. K. T. Harris, their daughter, Miss Jeam-Ue Harris, came down from Salt Lake Saturday. They were joined by their son, Tom Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Hart J. Sanders and Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Caddie, on a trip to FLshlake Labor day. Mrs. Dan Larsen, who spent the summer at Oakley with her husband, returned to her home in Gunnison Friday Fri-day of last week. Miss Aleda Christiansen, who spent a months vacation here with her parent), par-ent), Bishop and Mrs. Hyrum Christiansen, Chris-tiansen, left this morning for Salt Lake, where she will resume her duties du-ties as a stenographer. Dr. and Mrs. John O. Mellor and Hons, Wendell and Joel, were here Friday Fri-day of last week from their home at Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were guests at the Edd. Jensen and J. E. Metcalf homes. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Beck and Mr. and Mrs. Newell Mortensen enjoyed an outing at Fishlako Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jensen and daughters, Ellon and Katherine, and grandson, Paul Frazee, of Los Angeles, Angel-es, Calif., are spending several days here visiting with friends and relatives. rela-tives. The Jensens are former residents resi-dents of Gunnison, and Mr. Jensen is employed in the factory of a large tire concern at Los Angeles. Mrs. J. S. Peterson, who had been visiting with relatives at Grand Junction Junc-tion for the past three weeks, returned return-ed to Gunnison Tuesday. She was accompanied ac-companied by her daughter, Mrs. R. II. Fardew, who will visit for a few days here. Members of the Royal Neighbors were delightfully entertained by Mrs. L. G. Anderson at the Gunnison hotel Saturday afternoon. Four tables of bridge were in play and honors were won by Mrs. J. B. Roper and Mrs. R. H. Pardew. Light refreshments were served at four-thirty. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Villard was made happy last Friday with the birth of a fine baby girl. Mr. Villard is station with a telephone construction company tn Arizona, but the word of the coming of the new daughter was hurried to him. Mrs. Villard and her daughter are doing splendidly. Miss Mana Sprasser of Huntington, W. Va., and Miss Margaret Inkley of Salt Lake, are house guests of Miss LaVyrl Larson. The visitors, companions compan-ions with Miss Larson on an eastern mission, will be here for several days. C. E. Andersen, assistant cashier for the Gunnison Valley bank, Mrs. Andersen and the Andersen children, ' left the first, of the week for a vaca- j tion trip. While away they will visit with relatives and friends in Salt Lake and Ogden. They are expected to ; return the last of this week. j Mr. and Mrs. Paul Streeper of Salt) Lake, are spending the week here as 1 guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Jensen, parents of Mrs. Streeper. Mr. and Mrs. Lance Hyatt, residents of Lower Westview, are rejoicing over the arrival of a fine baby boy. ! Young Hyatt was born Saturday of last week, and according to advices he I and his mother are getting along! nicely. j i ' Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Childs and family, fam-ily, C. H. Childs and the Childs girls, and Mr. and Mrs. George Swain and family, spent Sunday seeing the sights along the Lions Trail. The party motored mo-tored to the Salina reservoir, where some time was spent in hiking and taking side trips. In the late afternoon, after-noon, on the return trip, they gathered gather-ed wild fruit in Gooseberry canyon. Members of the Junior Bridge club were entertained at the home of Mrs. Eldred Buchanan Tuesday evening of this week. Following a lively game of progressive bridge, at which prizes were awarded to Mrs. Editha Rosen-lund Rosen-lund and Mrs. Kimbal Larsen, the hos-J hos-J tess served a dainty luncheon to twelve. j Mrs. J. E. Metcalf was hostess to members of the Treas Jouli club Thursday afternoon of last week. Following Fol-lowing a lively game of progressive bridge, a dainty luncheon was served at small tables to sixteen. Mr. and Mrs. Theron dinger, who have been located at Shoshone, Nev., for three months, and where Mr. dinger was foreman of the Swallow ranch, returned from the sister state the first of the week. Enroute to Gunnison Gun-nison they spent a couple of days at Manti visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Buchanan. Mr. dinger will be a member of the teaching corps at the Washington school this winter. Mr. and Mrs. George Larsen and daughter, Donna, of Salt Lake, were guests over the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Larsen. They were accompanied accom-panied from the north by Duane Larsen, Lar-sen, who had spent the past month visiting at the home of his brother in Salt Lake. Miss Gertrude Wahl is spending a brief vacation here and is a guest at the home of Miss Irene Allmendmger. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Olsen and baby daughter, of Provo, have been guests the past week at the home of Mrs. Olsen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Myrup. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Metcalf entertained enter-tained at a well arranged chicken dinner din-ner Friday in honor of Dr. and Mrs. John 0. Mellor and sons, Wendell and Joel, of Idaho, at their home on East First. South street. Besides the honor guests, places were marked for Mrs. Eva C. Mellor of Manti, Mr. and Mrs. William Metcalf, and the host and hostess. Decorations were in keeping with the season and were a pleasing array of fall flowers. Besides being in honor of the visitors, it was the birthday birth-day anniversary of Wendell Mellor. |
