Show University of Utah PlansTermOpening With regular class instruction listed for September 26, everything is in readiness at the University of Utah for the fall quarter's work of the 1933-34 school year. Freshman students, stu-dents, however, will report at the university uni-versity September 20 for special entrance en-trance examinations in English and psychology. Freshmen will receive preliminary instruction and be registered regis-tered September 21, 22 and 23, and sophomores and upper classmen as well as graduate students will register September 25. Although the state university has been forced to make retrenchments in certain departments, there will be virtually vir-tually no difference in the curricula, according to President George Thom-I Thom-I as. In the absence during the fall months of Dr. George Emory Fellows, professor of history and political science, sci-ence, President Thomas will conduct a feature of one hour a week course in "Current Political Affairs." Other! classes of Dr. Fellows will be conducted conduct-ed by Dr. Harold Dalgleish, who recently re-cently received his Ph. D. at Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania following study in Canada, Europe Eu-rope and this country. Dr. Dalgleish will give an interesting course in the "History of Civilization' Dr. Arthur L. Beeley, head of the department of sociology, will be back after a year's study in England, and Professor B. Roland Lewis, noted Shakespearian scholar, will again offer of-fer courses in English following a year's intensive study at the Folger Shakespearian Memorial library at Washington, D. C. Other instructors returning after leaves of absence for study elsewhere are: Dorothy B. Nys-wander, Nys-wander, psychology; Alfred Birney and Elsie Rohrbaugh, English, and Mildred Metcalf, physical education. Xew instructors besides Dr. Dalgleish Dal-gleish are: David Tracy Jones, zoology; zoolo-gy; Conn Fenning, pharmacology; Ar-j Ar-j den Frandsen, education; Karl Higson and Charles Schwartz, military science; sci-ence; Paul Wyler and Jean Beck, j German. |
