The Boy Scouts of Gunnison, alert to everything and anything that is good for the community, com-munity, will also enter the contest, and will go after the prize which is to be offered. While the trophy offered of-fered will not be an elaborate affair, af-fair, it will be symbolic of the spirit that will be shown by those in the contest to fit the city with value that it. will appropriately decorate any room or place where it may be placed. When the contest opens next Hon- day every citizen should be prepared with a warm welcome for those seeking seek-ing books for the library. Give liberally li-berally in books or money and give those working for your interests every encouragement. And bear this fact in mind it you have a book and get the idea that by giving giv-ing it you will see it no more, is a wrong impression. All the books contributed will be available for you at all times as they are to be used in the public library of Gunnison. According to advices received from Salt Lake City, Gunnison will have to go it alone if a library is to be established here. Word has been received from the state capitol that the office of state librarian has been : abolished and that there are no i funds available for aiding libraries j throughout the state now being I created. Gunnison is big enough j and broad enough to have, create and maintain her own library. But ! it will take the work and help of every patriotic citizen here. When the solicitors visit you during the coming week, help them to the limit with money or books. |
