Show LOCAL LEGION MEMBERS RESENT INSINUATIONS Since the death of our late comrade, com-rade, James E .Gledhill, certain rumors rum-ors have been circulated to some cx-l cx-l tent, relative to the cause of his ; death, which tend to degrade and to j cast some reflection upon the char-! char-! acter of the deceased. These rumors have reached the officers of the local post of the American Amer-ican Legion, of which the deceased I was a member in good standing at j the time of his death, and the Am- erican Legion have thought it best to inform the public as to the exr.ct cause of his death in order to sst aside and disprove any false rumors relative thereto, that there may be no reflection upon the good name, character and integrity of our deceased de-ceased comrade, or upon his surviving surviv-ing family and relatives. To this end we have procured from the physicians phy-sicians attending at the time "of his death, a written statement setting forth the cause of death as being from ruptured gastric ulcer. This cause was discovered only after death, when an autopsy was made, at which time it was found that there was a hole in the stomach caused from the effects of the ulcer, j This is .according to the attending I physicians, the sole cause of Mr. Gledhill's death, and the sole cause I of the condition of his body after i death. Mr. Gledhill served during the world war, and while overseas w is 1 badly gassed, which had rendei jd him partially disabled since his d's- I charge. And although he had ie-i ' ceived medical treatment from the U. j J S. government since being discharged ' from the Army, the effects of the in- j ' juries received, disappeared, and un- j ; questionably, the disease from which j he died was caused from injuries received re-ceived as a member of Uncle Sam's fighting forces, and while in line of I duty. To those who knew Mr. Gledhill, . no explanation is necessary, but to I dispel any suspicion that his death was caused from any degrading dis-l dis-l ease, and to disprove any false rumors ru-mors relative thereto, the American Legion has made the investigation upon which the above facts are stat- ed, and feel and know that with th;s ! explanation, no further suspicion of any kind will be entertained by any- I one.
