Show Badly Injured In Furious Runaway G rover Chillis was rendered unconscious un-conscious anil his face ami hoily were hailly cut anil bruised last Monday morning whim ho was thrown from the buggy in which ho was riding, and that ho escaped more serious injuries in-juries is a miracle, lie has been confined con-fined to his home during the week and reports last night were to the effect that he was in pretty good shape and that he would soon be uble to resume work. Mr. Childs was enroute to his farm early last Monday morning and was driving his buggy to which was attached at-tached a spirited horse. lie was leading two work animals and when j near the Gribble corner, dogs bom- barded the caravan, frightening the j work team. The horses plunged and , frightened the buggy horso and the race was on. Tearing madly to the west the horses turned the- corner south at First West street. In going go-ing over a deep ditch, Childs was thrown from his buggy and fell heavily on the hard road. F. II. Jones, hurried to the injured man and found him unconscious with ' blood flowing from his nose and mouth. Passersby aided in getting the mpn to the Jones home where medical examination was made. Shortly Childs recovered sufficiently to be carried to his home. An examination ex-amination showed his forehead, check and chin badly bruised and scratched. The entire right side of the man's body was a mass of scratches scrat-ches and briuses, but fortunately no i bones were broken. ! The horses continued their mad ! race a couple of blocks south where i they were captured. Other than breaking parts of the harness and the shafts of the buggy, the damage to the outfit was slight. |
