Show PROPER IRRIGATION BRINGS BEST RES FITS What can be done during August and September to increase the beet yield per acre, is indicated by Asa C. Maxson, in charge of the experimental experiment-al farm of the Gieat Western Sugar company, at Longrnont, Colo., in a recent publication. The idea is a j good one and is passed on to the i Gunnison Valley beet growers with a view to aiding them in increasing the tonnage. Mr. Maxson's article is as follows: Normally over one-half of the tonnage ton-nage of beets harvested is produced during August and September. .August is the most important month in tonnage product loo. In order to get a maximum growth j during August and September, nil previous work must have been properly prop-erly done. If the crop is not free of wc. 's, remove them at once. Tin; beet crop uses more wal'T during August than during any like period in its growl h. Do not. allow the crop to !uiff"r from lack of water. Irrigate fro-iuently fro-iuently and thoroughly but not loo heavily. Water should be applied every ten days or two weeks. Avoid flooding.
