Show Area Obituaries Bud Ormond ; BOULDER Bud Barney Ormond of American Fork, and former resident of Boulder, passed away July 28, 2002 in Provo, of natural causes. Bud was born Apr. 30, 1923 in Boulder, to George Henry and Ida Deuel Ormond. He married Eva Chynoweth of Henrieville on Nov. 6, 1951. They later divorced. He resided in American Fork for most of his life. He was employed at General Refractories in Lehi for 30 years. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had fond memories of growing up in Boulder and loved to return each summer to camp and each fall to hunt deer. He was a quiet man of dignity and integrity. We loved him and will miss him. He is survived by former spouse, Eva Chynoweth, Ferron; daughters: Denise Ormond, Salt Lake City and RaVoe (Matthew) Orton, Highland; grandchildren, Michala Alldredge and Anjeanette Alldredge, Portland, Ore.; David Ormond Alldredge and Andrew Chet Alldredge, Salt Lake City; Whitney Orton, & I I i i. Bud Ormond McKay Orton, Max Barney Orton, Sam Taylor Orton and Andee Orton, Highland; siblings: sib-lings: Burns Ormond, Boulder and Grace Barney, Escalante. He was preceded in death by parents; a son, Rocky Bud Ormond; siblings, Glen Ormond, Carter Ormond, Gertrude Moosman, Raymond Ormond and Reed Ormond. Funeral services were held Aug. 2, 2002. Interment was in American Fork, with military honors. Mary Dodds Purdie Prather ; Mary Dodds, 89, was born ; Feb. 3, 1913 the oldest daughter to John and Delia McGregor Dodds in Panguitch. She was : married to Bruce Purdie, later divorced. She married Ralph Prather. He preceded her in ' death. She is survived by her '. three children: Geraldine Purdie ; 4rehr, Midvale; John (Julia) jurdie and Bruce Purdie, both $f California; brothers: Ned J. Zora) Dodds Kearns, and David Dell Dodds Sandia Park, J.M.; and eight grand children. 5 Mary was raised in Panguitch, and moved to San Francisco where she resided for rie past 60 years. Mary loved fife; she was independent and .worked much of her life in the optical field and later in a bank. Mary worked well into her 70's. he was a friendly, kind person jvho always had a smile for others. oth-ers. Mary was a good mother and taught her children strong values. In her later life, she traveled trav-eled and so enjoyed seeing the f . ' ' Mary Dodds world. Mary was on a trip to visit her daughter when she became ill. Mary died in Murray, Utah, Aug. 22, 2002. Mary would like to thank those who have cared for her at Cottonwood Hospital for the past month. A cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. Wina Liston Dotson Spencer ESCALANTE - Wina Liston Dotson Spencer, born Apr. 16, 1911 in Escalante, the eldest daughter of Rufus and Ethel Liston, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002. She was 91 years old. Her family was with her at the time of her passing. She spent her childhood in Escalante, then graduated from Brigham Young University. She taught in many Utah towns including Antimony, Escalante, and Hurricane. Her lifetime of teaching was completed after more than 30 years in Las Vegas, Nev. Wina married J. Norman Dotson on Dec. 31, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wina and Norman were the parents of five children. They were later divorced. Norman passed away in the fall of 1976. She married Harlan Spencer on Aug. 10, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nev. and was blessed with him for the remainder of her life. Wina was a teacher not only to her students, but to her children chil-dren and family as well. Her patience was incredible. She would not give up until the lesson les-son was understood. She had a truly amazing God-given gift to forgive and forget the bad things and only remember the good things in people and in life. She will be missed by all who knew : - ; ; j Wina Spencer and loved her. She is survived by her husband, hus-band, Harlan Spencer; children: Rose Marie Hendrickson, Rodney (Lydia) Dotson, Victor (Sunnie) Dotson, Don Dotson; sister, Lois Spake; 24 grandchildren; grandchil-dren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Ethel Liston; a daughter, JoWynn Nieman; and a brother, Grant (Cook) Liston Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Stake Center where friends may call Saturday morning from 1 1 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery. Charles Dean Wintch TROPIC Funeral services for Charles Dean Wintch, 76 of Tropic, who passed away Aug. 11, 2002 in Provo, were held Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel. Officiating at the service was Tropic LDS Bishop Fred Syrett with Crystal Mortensen providing provid-ing the prelude and postlude music. Son-in-law Don Grimmer offered the family prayer prior to the opening of the service. A sister, Suzanne Griffin, gave the ' invocation, followed by a musical musi-cal selection, "O Lord My Redeemer," sung by grandchildren grandchil-dren Shane Wintch, Joanna Wintch, Eric Wintch, Megan Wintch and Tiffany Riding and accompanied by a grandson, Wesley Wintch. Tributes were offered by daughters Valerie Grimmer, Paula Hughes and Sharon Pollock, followed by a musical selection, "No Ordinary Man," performed by the grandsons and accompanied by daughter-in-law Sharon Wintch. Brother-in-law and lifetime friend, Jack Chynoweth then spoke, followed by a musical selection, "Don't It Make You Want To Go Home," by the grandchildren. A son, Dennis Wintch spoke with final remarks from Bishop Fred Syrett. Then Dennis Wintch also performed a final musical number, "Abide With Me," followed by a broth er of Dean Wintch, Michael Wintch, offering the benediction. benedic-tion. Compassionate services were rendered by the Tropic LDS Ward Relief Society Sisters. Pallbearers were son-in-law Gordon J. Pollock; grandsons Travis Dean Hughes, Shane Dennis Wintch, Wesley Dean Wintch, Brent Owen Hughes, Justin Don Grimmer, Lenny Gordon Pollock, Lance Virgil Pollock, Eric Clinton Wintch, Ktder Scott Charles Wintch and Chase W. Pollock. Honorary pallbearers were sons-in-law Don E. Grimmer, Owen L. Hughes; grandsons-in-law Rhett Riding, Cary Clark, Joseph Stewart, Robert N. Jackson, Jared Shaw; brothers Kent J. Wintch, Michael Wintch; brothers-in-law James Goulding, Royce Griffin, Ronald Otteson, Afton Pollock, Merril Woodbury, Mike Skelly, Jack Chynoweth and uncle, Wallace Ott. Interment was in the Tropic Cemetery with military rites rendered by the Bryce Valley American Legion Post 18 and presentation of the flag by a son-in-law, LeRoy Hughes. Dedication of the his grave was performed by his friend Garth Stanger. . Funeral services were under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. |
