Show ZSCALMJ7G UGWS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 The family of the late Clyde and Lillie Spencer recently held their annual family reunion at Wilderness Park in Provo. Jim and Jolyn Spencer, Orem, were the hosts. Others in attendance were: Vergean and Carolyn Porter, Escalante; J. C. and Opal Spencer, Springville; Talmage and Venice Taylor, Sandy; and Doug and Marie Loosle, Richfield. Stewart and Karma Bailey, Fillmore, represented the family of McKay and the i late LaFaye Bailey. Carolyn and Vergean Porter were also able to go to Midway while they were up north and be in attendance at an LDS sacrament sacra-ment meeting when their great-granddaughter, great-granddaughter, little Jadyn Marie, was given a name and a blessing. She is the daughter of Jared and Holly Porter and the granddaughter of Sloan and Veralynn Porter. Jason Porter, another son of Sloan's, just left to go on a LDS mission to Budapest, Hungary. There have been quite a few weddings mixed in with family reunions this summer. And two more coming up next month. Coincidentally both are on the same day at the St. George Temple! Ryan Cottam and Tari Feltner, Tropic, have chosen Sept. 28 for their wedding day and so have Ashley Beebe and Ryan Chidester, Cedar City. The family of Loreta Spencer came to town for a reunion bearing bear-ing Dutch ovens for cooking mutton in the back yard and lots of other good food to go with that. Included in the group, besides Loreta, were: Wayne and Connie Spencer, Tropic; Vickie Beck, St. George; Trevor and Kimberly Heaton, Cedar City; Keith Spencer, El Paso, Tex.; Don and Jeanette Spencer, Greeley, Colorado; Gail Stock, St. George; Bill and Tony Anderson, Manti; Bob and Melanie Spencer, Orderville; Brent Spencer, Bill and Dixie Spencer, all of St. George; and Gary and Tammy Spencer who live in Escalante. They had a great time as this was the first time they had all been together in seven or eight years. The Escalante Lyman family all went to Boulder recently for their family reunion. Representing the family of Lincoln Lyman were: Tyler, Lisa, Joni and Justin Lyman; Faye Lyman; Gwen, Donnie, Chad, Amanda and Kelsey Porter and Dana Alvey and daughter, Lisa, Cedar City. Donnie Randall represented the Dale Lyman family. From the Truman Lyman family: Howard and Sandra Miller; Greg, Paula, Shane, Cinton and Jeff Shakespear; George, Lisa, Brandon, Afton and Jaycee Nez. Also, Cleo and Mary Lyman and girls, Heber City; Kent and Mary Ann Lyman and family, Orem; Noel and Michelle Lyman and family, Bicknell. From the Ivan Lyman family were his wife, Dorothy, and Arthur, Julie, Lacie, Clint and Nolan Lyman, North Powder, Ore.; Jack Lyman and his new wife and family, Heber City; Ronald Lyman, Salt Lake City; Gladys and Dell LeFevre and family, Boulder. Representing the Kirk Lyman family were: Ethelinda, Jimmy, Savannah and Hayden Taylor, West Jordan and they brought two of Claude Jack Lyman's sons. Opal and J. C. Spencer were there from Springville with their two sons, Kenneth and Gaylon and their families. Loya and Glenn Gubler came from St. George; Edith Isaacson from Salt Lake City and LaRue Wentworth was represented by Glenn Wentworth and family of Roosevelt. It's nice to have reunions to bring all these people back into the area again for something besides a funeral! Sixty of the 83 family members mem-bers of Norman and Ardis Christensen camped on- Cedar Mountain last week. (Just look what they started!) Keith and Donna Christensen, Cedar City were the hosts of their reunion this year. Included in this group were the families of: Matt and Jo Bulloch, Cedar City; Mary and Sam Blauser, Tooele; Julie and Arthur Lyman, North Powder, Ore.; Clyde and Terri Christensen, Tooele; Vadis Green, Big Timber, Mont.; Gary and Judilyn Christensen, St. George; Greg and Beth Christensen and Cris and Tammy Christensen all of Escalante. They had a great time. Some of them even hiked the narrows and the rest picked them up and took them back to camp when they were through. The Roe sisters have been ; ; galavanting again! Thais Griffin, Escalante; Beverly Crosby and Winona Sevy, Panguitch and Ardith Davis, Orem, went to Nauvoo, again this time to see the new LDS Temple. They spent three days there. They saw Ted Jolley and his wife, Angle, while there and also the former Beverly Lay who is a cousin of Phyllis Alvey and Klyn and Don Haws. Small world, huh? They got back home just in time to attend the' Roe reunion in Orem. Shannon and Jennifer Steed; hosted a reunion for the Escalante High School class of 1982. There were around 21 in attendance, including spouses and a friend or two. Marilee Griffin Miller from Mesa, Ariz.; Tracy Mitchell Robison, Ely, Nev.; Gary and Judilyn. Christensen, St. George; Sheila! Beebe Shotwell, Beaver;; Roberta Roundy and a friend, Boulder; Daryl Coleman and a friend, Colorado; Terry Brooks and a friend, Charlo, Montana; Warren and Linda Haycock, Frank and Angie Alvey, Donnie and Gwen Lyman Porter, Shannon and Jennifer Steed, all of Escalante. Also a teacher, Greg Allen and his wife Debbie. Greg will be teaching here again this winter. Clorene Vidrine recently returned from a church history tour. She went with a "Dixie Senior Tour" from St. George. They spent four nights in Nauvoo and attended sessions in the new LDS Temple there and also the ones near "Winter Quarters" in Nebraska and in Albuquerque, N.M. They came back by way of Branson, Mo., (where they saw a lot of good, shows), Texas, New Mexico,. Arizona etc. Seeing lots of sights along the way. Monte and Sylvia Luker spent a few days in Salt Lake City for a reunion with all men-children, men-children, including Michael and Marinda Bowen from New York. They also got to see a new grandson, Griffin, who is the son of Mickey and Chante Vriens. One grandchild,' Cassidy Luker, was in the hospital hospi-tal with pneumonia while they were there, so they were glad to see her on the mend before they came back home. |
