Show PAtJGUITGH nUl'JS By Earl Roe 676-2376 In an emergency, family always comes through. Evalyn I and I traveled to Orem over the weekend to attend the Charles John Roe (my grandfather) reunion. About 50 descendants ' were in attendance and one of these was the only living child of Grandpa and Grandma Roe, my Aunt Verna Hall, now 91 years old. I hope she is able to attend the next reunion here in Panguitch in two years. We , traveled on to Salt Lake City Monday afternoon to meet Man Ho Au Joe Roe, our foreign exchange student from last year. We brought Joe and friend, Chou to Ephraim where they will be attending Snow College for the next two years. They came on down to Panguitch with us to visit some of Joe's Panguitch friends and they went back to Ephraim with me as I traveled to Salt Lake City for school board related meetings. Joe thinks Panguitch is a cool (no pun intended) place to live. Winona Sevy, Beverly Crosby, Thais Griffin and Ardeth Davis, my four sisters, just returned from their annual "sister trip." This year they traveled to Nauvoo where they spent four days of their eight-day eight-day trip. They were able to attend the LDS temple on three different days and participate in three of the ordinances. They were also conducted on a tour of the temple by a member of the Temple Presidency. They all agree that this was the most outstanding out-standing of all their trips and . probably the last one so far from home. They were able to attend church while in Nauvoo and also a fireside at Carthage, where Elder Mike Tripp was the speaker. They made it back to Orem in time for the Roe reunion. Andrea Hatchcock, daughter of former music teacher, Paul Hatchcock, has received her LDS mission call to the Massachusetts-Boston Spanish speaking mission. Her farewell will be held in Ogden on Sept. 1 . and she will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo on Sept. 1 1 . Friends who might want to attend or wish her well may call her at (801) 392-4686. 392-4686. The Brian and Jennifer Bremner family recently trav- eled to Washington state to visit relatives. While attending church at a Bellview LDS Ward, they met Mary (Wynch) Welk, a former Tropic resident. They would like to say "Hi" to Mary by way of our county newspaper. newspa-per. We are just about to get a new and more accessible entrance to our Color Country Complex. The new bridge is in and work is being done on the access road. It will be nice to get rid of the bottleneck caused by the present bridge which could be saved for pedestrian' traffic by putting a divider down the middle of it. Now for the exciting news of the week. I got blue ribbons on both of my tomato entries at the county fair. Isn't this the most exciting bit of news in this whole article? My tomatoes were not as large as those entered by Frank Henrie, but they were redder. I am going to break tradition and end with a couple of Fearless Farris Stinker Station road sign quips. "Sheep herders headed for town have the right-of-way" "If your wife want to drive, don 't stand in her way! " |
