Show Open Letter to Residents of Garfield County The Garfield County Sheriff's Office and County Commissioners are proposing construction of a New Public Safety Facility in the Panguitch area, to be located in the Industrial Park. 1 . The new One Hundred Bed Facility will furnish adequate bed space for our increasing County Inmate population. At the present time Female Offenders and Special Need Offenders must be housed outside Garfield County at the County's Expense. 2. The New Complex will provide Eighty Beds which will be Contracted out to the State or Federal Government to house their Inmates at a predetermined rate. 3. The Contract Beds will allow Garfield County to retire the Full Cost of construction in a ten-year period WITHOUT an increase in taxes. 4. The New Facility will also help offset the cost of our 24-hour Emergency Dispatch Center. 5. The New Facility will also provide at least Eleven New Full Time Positions to residents of Garfield County. 6. The New Facility will provide Office Space for Garfield County Sheriff's Office, Jail Staff, Panguitch City Police, Utah Highway Patrol and Courts. 7. The New Facility will reduce the liability that has to be met with the Utah Jail Standards. As with any new project of this size and scope, we recognize the residents of Garfield County will have questions and concerns. Public fvleetings will be scheduled County-Wide to address your questions and concerns at a later date. We, the undersigned Mayors and County Commissioners agree with and support this newjDroposal. i |
