Show It's Time To Resign An open letter to the residents of Panguitch. I have submitted the following letter to Mayor Jon Tor-gerson: Tor-gerson: Dear Mayor Torgerson: As of October 1, 1998, I hereby give my resignation as Chief of Police for Panguitch City. I have enjoyed my employment employ-ment with Panguitch City, but have come to the conclusion that it would be in the best interest of my family and myself, to resign at this time. I know for a fact that there are several council members and citizens who are out to see me ousted from my job and have openly expressed that desire to citizens within Panguitch. As a Law Enforcement Officer, Offi-cer, I feel personally responsible to help eliminate the growing crime problems but because ' of lack of respect, usually those who are in violation of the law or who side with those who have been involved with law enforcement problems, I am unable to do this. I have experienced in the past several months more criticism than I have in the past seventeen years put together from a few members of the city Council. I feel I have been unjustly dealt with in the most recent merit increase, in-crease, the suspension and probation. proba-tion. I have tried to the best of my ability to perform my duties as Chief of Police. I am just fed up with the constant criticism for trying to do my job. I am aware that I have made mistakes at times. This comes with seventeen seven-teen years of frustrations that are associated with law enforcement problems,' lack of training, and lack of understanding by those I have dealt with. I would like to express a sincere sin-cere thank you to the citizens of Panguitch and the, overwhelming support you gave to me and my family at the council meeting last month and to those who have expressed ex-pressed their appreciation to me in person. Thank you for the opportunity I have had in serving you and the community of Panguitch. To those citizens who have been dissatisfied with my performance, per-formance, good luck with future enforcement personnel. Martin Nay Chief of Police |
