Hospital Fund Raiser Promises Great Food, Entertainment, Prizes PANGUITCH The volunteer members of the Garfield Memorial Hospital Foundation board have been out across the county and state collecting fabulous fab-ulous door prizes to make their Annual Hospital Foundation Dinner Din-ner an even greater success than in seasons past. The event, set for this Friday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the rangditch LDS Slake Center is the largest and most extensive project sponsored by the Foundation Foun-dation each year to raise moneys for worthwhile health care projects. pro-jects. As in years past, the event will be prepared and catered by the hospital's dedicated kitchen staff. The dinner this year will feature an appetizer, roast beef and chicken, with all the trimmings, a complete salad bar, rolls and special dessert. Proceeds from the evening' will be used to purchase a rapid infuser and newborn hearing screening equipment for the hospital. The volunteers, limited in number, have attempted to contact con-tact individuals and businesses throughout the county during the month of September, extending an invitation to attend the annual fund raising event and have encouraged them to send donations if they cannot come. They stress that they want everyone to know that they are invited and apologize to anyone they failed to contact. Over 50 door prizes have been gathered by Foundation board members and to make the important annual event even more enticing. Local businesses have reached out with generous gifts to help make the evening a special success. (See ad on page 5A) A theme of "A Touch of Nature Makes The World Kin" was selected this year around which decorations and entertainment entertain-ment will be focused. The Shooting Stars from Panguitch and the Bryce Canyon Cloggers will perform as entertainment for the evening. A special exhibit of photographs of previous projects funded by the Foundation and made possible by earlier fund raising events will be on display for participants to review. Some of the projects include $100,000 toward the cost of the Long Term Care Facility; $5,000 toward the $20,000 addition to the Panguitch Clinic; $5,000 toward physician recruitment; fax machines for Circleville and Bryce Valley Clinics; $1,628 for sod outside of the Long Term Care facility; $133 for trees and shrubs in the atrium of LTC; $896 for remodeling of the Escalante Clinic; $900 for file shelves at the Escalante Clinic; $200 for fooddrug interaction computer program. The Foundation also paid one-half one-half of the cost of the cement around the LTC; $2,000 for 7-foot vinyl fence to the enclose atrium area. It provided funding toward scholarships for students entering the nursing field. The Foundation purchased a Lifepak VIJJ defib-rillatorpacer defib-rillatorpacer for the hospital's emergency room, a pulse oxymeter; oxy-meter; a birthing bed, new La-Z-Boy chairs and double recliner's for the LTC, a cardiac monitor, an infant isolette warmer; aqua-sonic aqua-sonic heating pads; a fetal heart monitor; ultrasound diagnostic equipment; an operating microscope, micro-scope, nurse call system, and much more. Pete and Keela Mangum owners of BryceZionGrand Trail Rides have purchased a beautiful quilt top from travels back in the Amish country of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and are having it hand-quilted by Grandma Iris Bushnell. They will donate it to the Hospital Foundation to use as a progressive bid quilt fund raiser. The quilt will be on display at the annual dinner. Emcee for the evening will be John Yardley. The Garfield Memorial Health Care Foundation depends upon the generosity of Garfield County residents who have traditionally supported its activities to provide funding for these worthy projects. This year's dinner is expected to be an important event to move the foundation nearer its current goal.
