Show Panguitch Hews By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 Another big garage being built is the Dave Harrises' on the end of their home. These garages not only protect cars from cold Panguitch Pan-guitch winters but give men a place to indulge in their leisure time activities. They need these buildings the way women need a place for their quilting frames, hobby materials and things that are too good to throw away. The propane tanks are being moved from the folks yard where the underground gas lines are being be-ing connected to the houses. Winter is just around the corner. ' Once we hurried to haul plenty of wood. Turning a switch is easier. The William Mills and Eliza Olive Allen Cox family reunion was held Sept. 5 at the Lamar Jolley farm below the Roller Mill Hill and was hosted by Zola Cox Jolley's family. The five living children of William and Eliza Cox who were present included; Zola Cox, St. George; Allen and Twila Cox, Orderville; Wilma Cox Beal, Leeds; Rex and Lucy Cox Crofts, Orderville; and Iris Cox Reese, Mapleton. The 219 people had a great time. At Charles and Lorene Hep-worths Hep-worths were Bobby and Pam R Owens and three children of Clearfield; Henry and Teresa Loya and five children, Clinton; Kevin and Lisa Hepworth, Monument, Colo.; and Jon and Mike Hepworth, Cedar City. In the Panguitch 4th LDS Ward, Jared Black, Dave Peterson Peter-son and Dan Petersonwere released re-leased as Sunday school teachers. They are going to college. Sustained Sus-tained as Sunday school teachers were Maria Gilbert and Margaret Decker. The Single Adult representative repre-sentative is Bradley Cole, Qur-oum Qur-oum Advisor, Joseph Decker; Sunday School president, Vee Henrie. Alex Sawyer, son of Wayne Sawyer, was baptized by his grandfather Lyle Sawyer. He was confirmed a member of the LDS Church by Lance Sawyer. The little daughter of Duane and Helen Sawyer was given the name of Macie Ann by her grandfather grand-father Lyle Sawyer. Sunday, Sept. 7, was the mission mis-sion farewell of Scott Henrie, son of Vee and Janis Henrie in 4th Ward. Prayers were given by Todd Brienholt and Gary Bennett. Speakers were Lisa Brienholt, Tami Bennett, and Janis Henrie. A song: "I'll Find You My Friend" was sung by Dave, Jeramy and Scott Henrie. Other speakers were Jeremy Henrie and Vee Henrie. Another song was sung by Bethany, Brittany, Becky, and Debbie Broadbent, and Tiffany Shakespeare. Elder Scott Henrie spoke and remarks were given by bishop Kelly Holman. Grandparents Grandpar-ents here were Norma Crompton and Lowell and Alice Henrie. (See PANGUITCH on page 5-A) Panguitch News From page 2-A Alta Orton spent two weeks in Salt Lake City with daughters Judy and Joann. She reports that she got word from the son of Panguitch Pan-guitch native Earl LeMon that Earl had died some time ago. He was the last of the original family raised here. Earl was a marvelous artist at wood carved pictures. He gave them to several of his friends years ago for wedding presents. pre-sents. Thanks Earl. Boyd and Ranee Owens went to Portland, Ore., to attend 'the reunion of Boyd's military group. The Evans family reunion was held at Red Point. Hal and Roma Wilcocks and a cousin were part of the Evans group. The cousin had car trouble, so some of them stayed with Roma's mother Norma Talbot. Norma's daughter Louise and Ellis Tait were here for several days. Ellis trimmed trees and bushes and did other jobs for Norma. Art Talbot's son Brenthas has been called on a LDS mission to the Philippines. Grandma Norma went to the St. George Temple with him. She also went to Cedar City to stay with Roma's and Hal's kids while they went on the elk hunt. Little Cole David Green was blessed in the LDS 2nd Ward by grandfather Daryl Veater. He is the son of David and Daphne Green. Grandparents here are Daryl and Maxine Veater and Ralph and Darylene Veater. A lot of family members were here for the blessing. Verna and Mark Owens and Jill McCullough went to Delta to celebrate her uncle's birthday. He is the brother of the late Vern Holman The Sean Stowells were at Grandma Merles over Labor Day They are attending Brigham Young University. 4 Art Crosby lost part of a '". ,r.r in a hayloader accident. Luckily his glove came off or he might have lost an arm. The Panguitch Elementary fourth grade students spent two days in Tropic with the rest of the District's 4th graders learning about "Utah Past and Present" and "Intrigue of the Past". Several Sev-eral teachers went along. What a fascinating way to learn about our area. Congratulations to everyone who helped and who took part. As the weather cools, smoke is rising from a few chimneys where wood is still burned. Other heat is being turned on a little in the evenings and early mornings and storm windows are being closed. Mary Partridge has been in the local hospital. Hope you are feeling feel-ing better Mary. Sally Cooper came home from her mission for a short time for medical treatment. At Panguitch Lake the quakies are turning colors more and we see the yellow branches on the town cottonwoods. Mamie Talbot got word that her grandson Aaron Williams of South Jordan has graduated from Ricks College at Rexburg. He also completed a mission at LDS church Headquarters in Salt Lake City before returning to finish College at Ricks. Her son-in-law Dennis Williams has now retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Inves-tigation. Hilma Excell, Janice, Chris and Bitsy Hatch went to Layton for the funeral of Tom Dobson, son of Juanita and the late Jay Talbot. Juanita stayed in Layton with Toms family for a while. Keith and Rosemond Henrie were happy to have Virginia C. and Don Hunt of Corvalis, Ore. and Cecil and Bonnie Clark of Logan with them for several days. The whole bunch spent their time touring tour-ing the southern parks. They visited vis-ited in Escalante with Thelma Cottam and others in Boulder. Michael and Mary K. Henrie Norman surprised her folks, the Henries, with a visit. They all spent time in Cannonville with Mark and Paula Henrie. Blanche Pendclton went north for the funeral fu-neral of a family member. Rulon Prince suffered a heart attack and was life flighted to Salt Lake City. Tom and Kay Hatch went lo spend a week in Alaska for Tom to meet with other State Legislatures. Legisla-tures. Panguitch Third Graders went to Kings Creek for a day's outing with the rest of the Districts Third graders. It's reported they didn't get rained on this year and really had a ball. Phil and Nan Singleton have a new baby girl. Big brother J.D said she is to be named Merscdes and will be called Sadie. Elder Mitch Miller reported his interesting Maryland Baltimore Balti-more LDS mission in the LDS 2nd. Ward on Sept. 13. The Primary Pri-mary children sang an appropriate mission song. Elder Miller's parents par-ents are Bishop Kenneth and Randi Rich Miller. Lots of family, fam-ily, friends and two former mission mis-sion companions were here for the happy occasion. The Panguitch Lake LDS Branch Chapel is closed for the winter so the branch presidency is back to its original wards in town. We hear that the home of the late Bill Brown is now for rent or for sale. His daughter Caroline Callies owns it. It has a fine large work shop behind it. The 3rd and 4th LDS Ward Primaries gave the Sacrament meeting programs last Sunday. The children are talented and willing and did great. In 4th Ward, Nicole Mathew was baptized. bap-tized. Her parents are Tony and Nan Matthew. Harvard Heaton was released and Mike Davis sustained as 2nd Ward Counselor in the Young Mens presidency . Brent McKee has received a mission call to Mexico, Maurita mission. 'This is the third Spanish-speaking mission mis-sion call for the Norm and Dcbra McKee family. The Chuck Hepworths kept a doctors appointment in Salt Lake City. In the 2nd LDS Ward, the little lit-tle son of Randy and Christa Dickenson was blessed by Grandpa Dickenson of Richfield. Grandparents here are Wally and Sheryl Henrie and great-grandma Ncucile Henrie. Mac and O'Rene Miller went to Salt Lake City for the mission report of a grandson. He is Helen's son. Matt and Sherideth Blais Tebbs had a little baby girl weighing just over two pounds. She was life-flighted north. Grandparents here are Mike and Margaret Tebbs and Phil Blais. Gwen Frandson and Maurita Syrett went north to keep a medical medi-cal appointment. Jim and Evelyn Henrie have been hurrying to harvest and distribute dis-tribute the crop from their large garden before leaving for a trip to I Turkey and Greece. Their son Brad's family is going with them. Each year, the Henries take one of the families of their eight children on an extended trip. i |
