Klyn and I ! came home from Provo on Friday, Sept, 11, and went back to Provo again' on the 1 7th for more therapy, ther-apy, and to see Klyn's doctors. ; Now- we don't have to go back to Provo again until Oct. 15! He is walking, with the help of a walker, but every once in a while I'v$ noticed he makes a little circle cir-cle holding the walker in the air! We stayed with our kids, Jon and Jillyn Sorensen in Salina on Wednesday night and Thursday night and Jillyn went to Provo with us. Robert Haws brought his brother-in-law, Howard Taylor with him, from Loma, Colo, to ! visit his parents, Klyn and Mar-I Mar-I lene. They brought Klyn's horse home and took Robert's horse . back. Robert left again on Tuesday, Tues-day, to return to Saudi Arabia for a month. Betty R. Alvey hosted a birthday, birth-day, party for Twila Mclnelly, at Twjla's home, last week. Twila is now 86 years young! In attendance atten-dance were Twila's daughter Judy Griffin, granddaughter Judilyn Christensen, Clea Woolsey, Mar-gean Mar-gean Schow, Deon Alvey, Velma Boulter, Beth Smith, Thelma Marsh, Suddie Okomoto, Iona Alvey, Marie Griffin, Clorene Vidrine and. Thais Griffin. Vernon and Hazel Griffin went to the Salt Lake City area to stay with daughter Marilyn Brandt and family and to make visits to Vernon's Ver-non's doctor there. : Harold (Sox) Spencer has been in and out of the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch a few times lately. He is home now and doing a little better. ..Deon Alvey, along with others from the five county area, has been in Ogden attending meetings. meet-ings. Sharon Dale and Shirley Marsh and son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Joy Marsh recently returned from a trip to the four corners area. They visited Mesa Verde and got in a bad hail storm in Cortez, Colo, that battered their trailer up a bit. They also had daugRter and son-in-law, Jill and Rick Woolsey here from the Salt Lake City area for a visit. Brent and Kathy Griffin are " thfc proud parents of a new baby boy. This baby is sort of a miracle mira-cle child. Kathy has RH factor blood and has been going to the University Hospital In Salt Lake City since June where they have been giving this child blood transfusions trans-fusions before he was born. He was finally born on August 21, five weeks early. He weighed five pounds six ounces and was 19 inches tall. He had to stay in the hospital eight days but they have him home now and he seems to be doing just fine. His name is Kai Gene, he has two older brothers at home and Gene and Thais Griffin are his grandparents. grand-parents. Congratulations to the Griffin family! Brian and Christi Stowe have a new baby boy. His name is Trenton. His grandparents are Stanley and Marlene Stowe, great-grandparents are Lane and ' , Leah Griffin and Margean Schow. Congratulations to them. Nephi and Heidi Noyes are the proud parents of a new baby girl. She has a brother at home. Joy Carter took her Mom, Rachel Jolley was in charge of the Monday night Family Home Evening. As the group was enjoying enjoy-ing their lovely meal, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Dalley Rachel's brother came in and surprised Rachel. They visited with her for several days. On Sept. 9, Alan and Tammi Syrett had their baby daughter, Jara Lynne, The grandparents are Arthur and Vicki Syrett; great-grandmother great-grandmother is Jean Syrett. Cary and Tressa Deccio, Las Vegas, Nev. have adopted a baby boy. Grandparents are Blaine and Shauna Anderson. They were in LasVegas getting acquainted with the baby. Great-grandmother is Jean Syrett. Also visiting with her mother Jean Syrett is Dawnetta Rutledge from California. Califor-nia. Nell Wilson visited with Clay and Rebecca Wagstaff to attend the wedding of her great niece Emily Wetzel at the Manti LDS Temple. She reports that she is feeling great and has enjoyed walking places and visiting her many, many friends. Max and Phylis Stewart traveled trav-eled to Boulder City, Nev. for the wedding of a niece, Melissa Stewart. She is a sister of Aaron Stewart. Cheryl and Lonnie Pollock have enjoyed the time spent with daughter Cherry Aaron. Cherry will be attending the wedding in Nevada, then leave to go back to Florida. All of the Brinkerhoffs attended at-tended the wedding of Jeff and Andrea Brinkerhoff at the St. George LDS Temple. (See ESCALANTE on page 5-A) Escalante News From pa.se 3-A Leah Griffin lo Mesa, Ariz, to spend couple of weeks with another an-other daughter, Marilee Miller after Marilee had surgery. Joy and Bart Carter, with their children Clayton and Ashley, and Stanley and Marlene Stowe and Val and Ann Haws, St. George, went to Salt Lake City to attend the state fair. Clayton and Ashley won first place, in their individual categories at the Garfield County Fair with their musical numbers, so this entitled them to participate partici-pate at the state level. This also gave the adults a chance to celebrate cele-brate Marlene and Ann's birthdays, birth-days, which they do every year anyway. They share a mutual birthday on Sept. 21. Twins, except ex-cept Ann was born a couple of years ahead of Marlene! Logan and Donna Hatch, Salt Lake City, visited at the home of Ruby Griffin recently. Donna had to be taken to the hospital in Panguitch for a day or two but she is doing o.k. again and is back home. It's always good to see Donna come back for a visit, she lived here for a long time! Jay and Linda Stokes, River-ton, River-ton, came to spend a few days with Betty R. Alvey and help do some work on Frank and Angie Alvey's new house. Dixie and Theron Mitchell spent a few days in Ely, Nev. with their daughter and son-in-law, Kevin and Tracie Robison and their two sons. Shaun and Kim Stuart moved here from Cedar City so Kim could teach kindergarten while Shaun finishes his schooling at Southern Utah University. They moved their trailer home onto the spot owned by Gordon and Al-meda Al-meda Haycock, adjacent to their home. While in the process of getting the trailer in place, a board broke and pinned Shaun underneath the trailer. It injured his legs and back. He spent one night in the hospital in Panguitch but is able to be back home, bruised and sore, but we are glad for him that it wasn't any worse than it was. Hope his luck is nothing but good the rest of the time he spends in Escalante! Fay Alvey called Deon Alvey to see how things are going in Escalante since she's been in the hospital. She is with her daughter and son-in-law, LaVee and Steve Wiscombe in Mapleton. She says maybe she can get someone to bring her home about Utah Education Educa-tion Association time. We'll be glad to get you home, Fay, we've missed you! Marc McLemore had the privilege privi-lege of being in the baseball stadium sta-dium in St. Louis, Mo. when Mark McGwire hit his 62nd home run. He said "It was so neat. It's exciting excit-ing to watch on television but nothing like actually being there!" Good for you Marc! |
