Show Escalante News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 It looks like spring is here again! Lots of people moving around. Hiking, four-wheeling, touring and one tourist asked the other day if the monument was wheelchair accessible! Bob and Mavis Munson enjoyed en-joyed having their children here for two weeks: Darrin and Angie Munson and two children, Boise, Ida. for one week and daughter DeEtte Barney and four children, Buhl, Ida. the following week. After that, they had Bob's brother, Hubert and wife Cheryl Munson and friends Arbon and Sandy Ar-vae Ar-vae of St. George; Floyd Munson and daughter, Dianne, of Upland, Calif. They enjoyed four-wheeling, four-wheeling, going to Hole-in-the-Rock and touring other parts of the desert and other points of interest. in-terest. Angie Griffin and Clella Woolsey spent time with their families in Sevier County; Angie (See Escalante News On Page 4-A) Escalante News From Page 2-A in Richfield and Clella in Salina. Mel and Kay Brooks made a trip to Phoenix. Mel drove Arlis and Melba Brooks back home for the summer and Kay drove Jody and the boys back home, also Velma Boulter. Those ladies got down there and had to stay when Flagstaff, Ariz, got another big snow storm. LaRue Spencer had daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Tom Marshall, Carbondale, Colo, here for a visit, then accompanied them as far as Panguitch and went to Brigham City with Ver-laine Ver-laine Spencer to spend a few days with her and LaRue's son Larry. Hal Spencer went to Panguitch Pan-guitch to get a dislocated shoulder shoul-der worked on and his wife Wina is suffering with a bad hip. Hope the warmer weather will be better for both of them. Gwen Lyman is home from Delano, Calif, where she spent a very pleasant winter with her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Milton Woolsey. Donnie Zenz flew his mom, Lola Zenz, home from Sparks, Nev. on Wednesday. They didn't even get her settled in at home before she fell and broke her hip. She was taken by ambulance to St. George and her daughter, Mar-jie Mar-jie Spencer, followed in her car. Frank and Angie Alvey took two year old, Erica, to St. George to have her tonsils removed on Thursday. Grandma Betty R. Alvey kept their other little daughter, Mattie. Betty was excited ex-cited to get a phone call from her grandson, Kerry Tait of South Jordan, telling her that he had recieved his LDS mission call to Maloga, Spain. He will be leaving leav-ing in July. He is a son of Greg and Irene Tait. Congratulations to Mila Roundy, Menden. She will be 80 years young on April 22. She is the wife of Floyd Roundy, former resident, and brother of Betty R. Alvey. There was a large group in attendance at-tendance at the LDS missionary testimonial meeting for Garrett Cottam last Sunday. Deon Alvey and Marlene Haws attended meetings in Moab last week, on transportation, on behalf of the senior citizen program. pro-gram. Sherri Meisenbach and children, chil-dren, Orange, Calif, spent the week with Sherri's parents, Lane and Geraldine Liston, while the children were on spring break. Little Katie Meisenbach had the chicken pox while she was here with her grandma and grandpa broke out on the way up here! Gene and Thais Griffin are home from Mesa, Ariz, for the summer. Brent and Kathy Griffin went down to visit them and to bring some of their belongings home for them probably Thais' crafts and Gene's trophies! Apologies to Michelle Alvey. I called her Michelle Roundy in my last column. It was all in the family, but that didn't make it right. They say there are three ways you can tell if you're getting old. First your vision dims, sec-' sec-' ond your hearing goes bad and I can't remember the third! |
