Show By Mamie Talbot The town seems really empty and dead with so many people gone, until one sees a list of all the programs, pro-grams, parties and happenings that are going on right now. Almost every organization, school and church class, wards, etc. are having parties so there is no loss of activity. activ-ity. And this is just the early part of December. Closer to Christmas will even be busier. We just don't see a lot of people on the streets. A happening of note is the moving mov-ing of the Garfield County News editorial and composing department to Tropic. We will miss seeing Katie Thomas, Bernice Paxman and Patti Southerland here but we can certainly understand Katie's need to be near her husband Jim who has lost his eyesight. Office Manager . Susie Fincher will still be here at the old location to take care of this end of the operation and keep things going as usual. Katheryn Henrie Ipson and Shirley Chidcster went to Salt Lake City to attend the wedding of school classmate Sara Orton Hatch. Ted Chidester said he went up also and went to a football game, sat in the University of Utah section, and cheered for Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. That's bravery. Hilma Excell spent a week in Cokeville, Wyo. with the Max Ex-cells Ex-cells and a week in Ogden with the Evan Excells. Merle Stowell is home from a two-month stay in Oregon with her daughters Roberta Fowler and Jan Welch. While there, Jan and husband hus-band were had their marriage solemnized sol-emnized in the Seattle LDS Temple. Tem-ple. Merle's family were all there for the occasion. Roberta's son, Matt received his mission call to serve in Seoul, Korea. Merle was so happy to be back home. There's just no place like it. Freda Talbot and Lauretta Lin-ford Lin-ford kept doctors appointments in Richfield. They are coming along well. Freda got permission to put weight on her injured knee. Susie Soper has married and moved to Clearfield. Collette Simkins has taken over the Hair Affair shop. Frank Richard's mission farewell was held on Sunday in the Panguitch Pangui-tch LDS First Ward. Many family members and friends were in attendance atten-dance to wish Frank the very best. Russell Harris reported his Florida LDS mission in the Panguitch Pan-guitch Third Ward. It's little wonder won-der he was glad to get back to the cool country. Paul and Howard Hatch made a trip to Montana to buy cattle. They were lucky to make it through the storms up there. The Jerry Camerons rented the Beaver Dam Lodge for their Thanksgiving get together.The Cameron sons'families represented were Kevin, Darren and Bradley Cameron. Kevin's in-laws, Jim and Mary Ellen Underwood were special guests. The Cameron's daughter, Nancy Davenport Cameron, received re-ceived her LDS mission call to serve in Russia. Thats exciting. We extend our heartfelt sympathy sympa-thy and love to Arnold and Peggy Keown at the death of their son, Rockie, who they were expecting for Thanksgiving dinner. The Black Ridge is such a treacherous strip of road after storms. The Ke-owns Ke-owns went to Bakersfield for the services. The Wally Ortons are living at Clear Creek Ranch at Panguitch Lake. They are caretakers there this year. Little Clayton Russell Miller, the Russell Miller's son, was blessed and received his name in services Sunday. The Reid Millers are grandparents here. The Bruce Fullmer family all took part in the farewell program for son, Burke, who goes into the Missionary Training Center soon. Steve and Machelle Pollock took their little son Kaden Steve to Tropic to receive his name and blessing in LDS services there. Grandparents there are Afton and DelRae Pollock. Going over from here were great grandparents the Bert Leaches, Alta Orton, Rolayne Davis, Lori Hatch, Chris Davis, the Glen Leaches, the Denny Orton family, Wally Orton family, Kenny Orton family, Donny Leach family, and Sherrie Hatch and children. Here for the holiday were the Bobby Owens at Glen and Bonnie Owens. Aurelia and Ronnie Adair and Russell and the Garna Dee Higbee family were at Hope Gouldings. Rena Cole took Maude Dick-ensen Dick-ensen to Las Vegas for eye surgery. "Zane Houston and Mary Cher-rington Cher-rington arc home from their holiday week in California. Mary was pleased when they got home with her flower gifts safe and unfrozen. |
