Show ( obi mmmm) Ruth Allen Alvey KANAB Ruth Allen Alvey, 77, died Dec. 6, 1991, at Kanab. She was born in Lyman, Utah, January 16, 1914 to Samuel Ephraim and Thisbe Read Alvey Allen. She went to school in Escalante and spent most of her life in Lyman Ly-man and Escalante. On August 10, 1930, she married Forest Burns Alvey in Escalante. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in May 1055. She was widowed Oct. 23, 1974. In November of 1978 she married Alfred Al-fred A. Chiono, who died July 22, 1986. Ruth was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many positions including young women's president, Relief Society secretary, primary teacher. She CIRCLEVILLE Kent H. Nay, 62, died Dec. 7, 1991 at his home in Circleville. He was born in Circleville to John Whelock and Arilla Mansor Nay January 18, 1929. His marriage mar-riage to Loretta Norton August 7, 1951 in Fredonia, Ariz, was solemnized sol-emnized Dec. 17, 1983 in the St. George LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church serving in the Sunday School superintendency and as ward clerk in the Circleville Second Sec-ond Ward. He was a builder by trade and worked for Piute School District for 18 years. His survivors include: wife, Circleville; three children, Tammy Nay and Chad Kent Nay, both Cedar City, and Lance H. Nay, Richfield; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, John L. Nay, Kearns; and five sisters, sis-ters, Grayce Hurd, Kanab; Shirley Laurence, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Ada Partridge, Parowan; Ida Dennis, Kaysville; and R. Gene Perotti, San Bruno, Calif.; and father-in-law, especially enjoyed her work with the scouting program. Her hobbies included flowers, quilting and embroidery. em-broidery. A fantastic cook, she made outstanding breads and rolls. She was mainly a homemaker but also worked in the school lunch program. Her survivors include: three children, Freland B. Alvey and wife Phyllis, Escalante; LaDell Alvey and wife Karen, Kanab; and Rolain Trujillo, Escalante; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 9, 1991 at the Escalante Es-calante Second LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery Ceme-tery under the direction of Mos-dell Mos-dell Mortuary, Kanab. Kent H. Nav KINGSTON Cloyd Mitchell, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1991 at his Kingston home. He was born Nov. 10, 1917 in Escalante to Zetland William and Margaret Shirts Mitchell. He mar-ri mar-ri ed Cleone Riddle, later divorced. On March 21, 1941, he married . Velma Anderson in Kingston, solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 6, 1942. A member of the Kingston Town board, he owned and operated a Kingston area farm. After 39 years with UDOT, he retired as - "' Kent H. Nay Clifford R. Norton, Circleville. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 1 1 at the Circleville Circle-ville LDS Ward Chapel with interment in-terment in the Circleville Cemetery. Cloyd Mitchell f I i Cloyd Mitchell foreman at Junction. Active in the LDS church, he served as a home teacher, in the ; bishopric for nine years, and was a High Priest group leader. He and his wife worked in the St. George LDS Temple for five years. ' He is survived by wife Velma, ' Kingston; five children, Mrs. Paul (Karen) Garcia and Kirkman Z. Mitchell, both of Washington, Utah; Mrs. Neil (Zina) Wiltshire, Circleville; Veldon C. Mitchell, Richfield; and Mrs. Paul (Elva) Nielson, Greenwich; 20 grandchildren; grandchil-dren; and 1 1 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, : Arthella Spencer, Roy; Mrs. Firle ' (Lavean) Wilkins, St. George; Mrs. ': Jay (Flora) Marchant, Peoa; Mrs. Doyle (Naida) Mclnelly, West Jordan; and Mrs. Wayne (Venned) Bailey, of Sandy. Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at the Circleville LDS Ward Chapel, Bishop Afton Morgan officiating. The family prayer was offered by Veldon C. Mitchell and the invocation by Neil Wiltshire. Prelude and postlude music were provided by Lori Mitchell. A piano solo was performed by Mindi Mitchell and vocal music by Shane Millett, Marty Harris and his granddaughters. A tribute was given by Lavean Wilkins and a speech by Alton Sudweeks with closing remarks by Bishop Morgan. The benediction was offered by Paul Nielson and Kirkman Z. Mitchell dedicated the grave at the Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Mitchell, Weston Mitchell, Faron Mitchell, Kody Mitchell, Veldon Wiltshire, Zane Wiltshire, Shane Nielson, Robert Mitchell Wright, and Dan Charles Wright Honorary pallbearers included Kirkman Z. Mitchell, Veldon C. Mitchell, Paul Garcia, Neil Wiltshire, Wilt-shire, Paul Nielson, Theron Mitchell Mit-chell and Garland Mitchell. Elizabeth Barton Funeral services for Elizabeth "Lizzie" Mecham Barton, 94, were held Monday, Dec. 9, 1991 at the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Carl Shakespear officiating. The family prayer was offered by Layton Barney and the invocation invoca-tion by Vickie Olsen. Tributes were given by JoAnn Ipson and Loretta Purdy with speeches by Fonetta Barney, DeLyle Barton and Melvin Weeks. Prelude and postlude music as well as a piano solo were per- i formed by Douglas Ipson with a vocal solo by Paulette Blake and Paul and Elizabeth Barton playing a flute and piano duet. The benediction was offered by Scott Barton and Richard Miller dedicated the grave at the Tropic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Barton, Cliff Barton, Norman Barton, Craig Barney, Clyde Barney, Richard Barton, Robert Barton, Brian Barton and Kent Barney. The great-grandsons acted as honorary pallbearers with the granddaughters granddaugh-ters and great-granddaughters as flower girls. |
