Show BLM District Multiple Use Council Sets Meet The , Cedar City BLM District's newly appointed Multiple-Use Advisory Council will hold its first meeting on Thursday, June 14, 1984 according to District Manager Morgan Jensen. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Cedar City District Office, 1579 North Main, Cedar City, Utah. Since this is the first meeting for the newly appointed council, the agenda will include primarily general business. This will include administrative procedures, election of officers, and an orientation on current district programs. Specific discussions will include Minerals activities (tar sands, coal), Planning (Cedar Beaver Garfield RMP EIS), Grazing (new regulations, improvement maintenance), and Cooperative Management Plans. Advisory Council members are appointed by the Secretary of the Interior to represent a specific resource area. They serve without pay for terms ranging from one to three years. The council's main function is to review public lands issues and makes recommendations that represent citizen viewpoints to he local BLM manager New council members are: Leon Bowler, Beryl, rights-of-way; James Bowns, Cedar City, Public-at-large; Gary Carter, St. George, Renewable Resources; York Jones, Cedar City, Non-renewable Resources; James Koons, Kanab, Renewable Resources; Richard Leigh, Cedar City, Wildlife; Jerry Lewis, St. George, Elected Government; Douglas McKnight, St. George, Recreation; Georgia Beth Thompson, Cedar City, Environmental Protection; and Jerry Wood, Cedar City, recreation. All Advisory Council meetings are open to the public. Interested persons may make oral statements at 3 p.m. or file written statements for the council's consideration. Anyone wishing to make an oral statement must notify the District Manager, P.O. Box 724, Cedar City, Utah M720 by June 12, 1984. Depending on the number of persons wishing to make a statement, a per person time limit may be established by the District Manager. |
