Show Panguitch Winners To Enter State Contest Three winners from Panguitch Elementary who participated in the district contest for Garfield County schools will enter their winning works in the state contest, contest. Heidi Heywood, eight year old second grader took first -place in the district literature contest with her poem based on the "Reflections theme, "What a Family Means to Me." Heidi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Heywood. Ten year old Leslie Barnhurst, daughter of Mr. and Mr. Mervin Barnhurst, Hatch, took first place in the art division with her crayon drawing of a Lazy Bug Family. Leslie is a fifth grade student. Another fifth grader, Susie Simkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Simkins, also took a first in literature with a poem on the Reflections theme. Suzie is 11 years old. Honorable mention at the district competition went to Jennifer liolman, Louise Nez, Candy Sanders and John Holman, all four in art. Also participating in district competition were Tracy Fagg, Sherri Hughes, Doug Ipson, Christy Bulkley, Becky Cowdell, and Amy Foy. |
