Visiting the Leland Riggs family during the week were: the Deon Porters, great Falls, . Montana; Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Sawyer and the Lane Chappels, Lyman; the Dean Clarks, Fullerton; Mary Winn, Nephi ; Natalie Payne, Overton, Nev.; Sandy Robison, Reno, Nev. ; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Craw and Bethany, Miner-sville. Visiting Effel Riggs were Thalia, Margo and Jens Mickelsen, Nephi; the Max Torres and Natalie and other members of their family. The Scott Chamberlains, the daughter Jennifer and her husband, Cedar City. The Cloyd Campbells visited the Ladd Holts, Salt Lake City and Myrtle Robertson, Cedar City. Accompanying Janice Riggs to the St. George LDS Temple were her parents, the Leland Riggs, their company the D. Clarks, Mrs. Effel Riggs and Thalia, Bp. and Mrs. Mervin Barnhurst, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Turek and Brent, Mr. and Mrs Nile Sawyer, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. James Avery and Maggie Barnhurst. The dinner and auction held for Janice was supported by a large crowd. Franklin Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Scott, Enoch played for the dance. Testimony meeting was held for Janice. Speakers were Adell Riggs, Max Torres, Cedar City; Pres. J. Phillip Hanks, Parowan; Bp Thomas L. Williams, Cedar City; Leland Riggs and Janice Riggs. A song was sung by Elaine Craw. Visiting the Calvin Wilson were Steven Weideman and friend George, Henderson, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. LeGrand Wood, Las Vegas are here at their summer home and visiting friends and relatives. The Dick Perry family, Las Vegas are here at their home for the holidays. Ada Ann Wulfenstein, St. George brought her uncle Joe Barnhurst here where he will spend the summer in his trailer house. Visiting Maggie Barnhurst were Merlin Barnhurst, Salt Lake City and his children from Cedar City and her brother Owen Sanders, Hurricane. Reva and Laretta Lowder spent the past week in kanab helping Velta Sawyer following her major surgery. The Lowders and the Arnold Sawyers are happy to announce their 15-year-old granddaughter, Verene Sawyer went to Salt Lake City to the state Hershey Jr. Olympic Track meet and won first place in the 880. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Barney, Las vegas visited the La Mar Barneys Visiting at the Layton Barneys were the Vic Gordons, Neola; the Craig Barneys and the Don L. Ipsons and Doris Barney. The Darol Allreds, Lexington, Kentucky; Mrs. Fred Houston and children, Phillipsburg, Montana are visiting two weeks at the Oliver Huntingtons. Valene Roberts and two children, Antimony are visiting the David Sawyers. Don Wood-mancy, Calif, came this far and took Tracy and David back to Calif, to visit awhile. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Evans left Wednesday for Spanish Fork where they met Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Clark and accompanied them on a two week tour to Canada and the North Western U.S. Odell Whitfield, Calif, is here visiting at the Fish Hatchery with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Prince. The Dallas Barnhurst went to Salt Lake City to visit over the long weekend. The Gale Wilcocks, Fountain Green, visited in town with relatives and friends this week. Our town is proud of their fire plugs. Kent Sawyer painted them bright yellow, so now we can see them. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Richmond and children also a friend, Tooele visited Mr. and Mrs Arnold Sawyer. |
