Show BLM, Forest Service Considers 50,000 Acre Boundary Adjustment An adjustment of the jurisdictional boundaries involving more than 50,000 acres in Garfield and Kane counties is being considered by the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service Administrative control of 26,562.95 acres of public (BLM) land would be transferred to the National Forest and 25,762.94 acres of National Forest lands would be transferred to BLM in the boundary adjustment, according to Morgan Jensen, BLM Cedar City District manager and Merlin Bishop, Dixie National Forest supervisor. A draft environmental assessment has been prepared on the proposed action and is available for public review and comment. Copies of the report may be inspected at the BLM and Forest Service offices, Cedar City and Escalante and the Forest Service Office in Panguitch. Written comments on the proposed action and the draft assessment may be sent to the BLM, Cedar City District Office, P.O. Box 729, Cedar City, Utah 84720, from now until June 8. Comments will be considered in the final en vironmental assessment which will be. prepared by June 23. |
