Andrew Spencer is still struggling to breathe, the doctor gave him some new medicine but so far it is not too effective. He had a visit from some descendants of Dan Jestit who were hunting history of him of their grandfather. Elda Haws spent some time in the Cedar City hospital recovering from an operation. She got along fine and Marlene and Klyn took her back to Arizona to recuperate She came here for the Barker reunion at Posey Lake with one hundred in attendance, became ill and entered the hospital. Garneal Smith spent several days in the Garfield Memorial for treatments, she felt better until she got the bill then had a relapse but came home anyway. Garneal and Jed took son Dane to Salt Lake City to his doctor. Mel Brooks had a fracas with a horse and wound up with a slight concussion, he is up and around again. Arlis and Melba Brooks spent considerable time In Colorado and elsewhere seeking summer pasture for their cattle. The Randal Lymans are home after visiting in Nebraska with Evelyn and Jim Corning who have a baby girl, then the Lymans had son Dick and family, Joyce and Milton Woolsey and family from California, Maynard and Connie Hickman and family and Cora Munson, 24 In all. Rex and Eva Allen went to Wast Jordan and brought 3 grandkids to care for while their mother, Tad's wife had back surgery. Elmer Porter had Hazel and Albert Carlton and some friends here from Lehi. Euzell Cottam has a new grandson born to Kent and Laura in Cedar City. He is their 4th boy. Also a great-granddaughter born to Sherrill and Karen Ott of Tropic. The baby had to stay in the hospital longer than the mother. Nelda Willis spends considerable time in the hospital caring for her mother, Alta Henderson. Walt and Maida Segmiller of Ogden are here visiting Reo Roundy and fencing their half of the lot, they got the side with the barn on. Reid and Nell Wooley went to Wyoming to visit family 'members. V' Fon and Starns" Mecham, Klyn, Marlene and Jill Haws went to Nephi to visit Robert and family and attend the Ute Stampede. Carolyn and Vergean Porter also attended the celebration. Hyrum and Maryellen Coleman had a weeks visit from Irene and Louis Brown and family of Nephi. The Andrew Spencers had a visit from Geneal and Jerry Chatterton and three kids from Maryland. The Smith Alveys and boys went on a ten day trip through Utah, Idaho and on to Seattle, Wash, visiting family members on both sides. They took Wallace Roundy and left him with Jay and Linda Stokes. Linda and kids came here for a week, then Jay came for the holiday weekend and took them home. Renee and Ben Porter, daughter Charlotte and family of Provo visited at the Blake Robinsons The Haync3 Woolseya had Christine Tatman and family home, then the little girl stayed for a longer visit Earl, Nethella, and Hella Woolsey went to Green River for the funeral services of Homer Nelson Earl and Nethella went to Panfluitch to meet Bill and Thirza Proctor Marlon and Tom Lyman for some fishing on Pangultch Lake. Marjorie Griffin was here looking after her interests Vernon Spencer drove the minibus and took a load of Golden Agers to Manti for the pageant. Rula went along and she and all the back seat drivers tried to keep him in line We stayed overnight with relatives all the way from Gunnison to Provo. Vernon and Rula were each insulted; Rula was mistaken for a 60 year old women, and Vernon was right proud of his new hat and saw another man wearing the same print and he told Vernon he looked much better In his than Vernon did. Sharon and Shirley Marsh had her parents, Max and Evelyn Heap here from Cedar City. Also from Cedar City came Kathleen Woolsey and boys and Virginia Bauer at the Dale Marsh home. Last week Kenneth and Marie Griffin of Provo visited the Rol Porters, this week Dave and Yoland Mclnelly came to town from Mesa, and took Rol and Mina to Provo for his checkup and left their kids with Twila Mclnelly and other relatives. Lola Alvey and boys, and Beth Blakey brought Evaden Lis ton home from Mapleton. Talmage and Venice Taylor dan daughter of Sandy spent the weekend at the Clyde Spencers. Lynn and Mildred Gates spent the weekend at Salt Lake City. Lewis and Jean Griffin visited here after vacationing in Hawaii. The Whitey Porters had son Marvin and family here from Arizona. The Donald Griffins had Lana and kids from Provo. Ernie and Betty Hill and daughter visited at the Dean Gledhills. Mait and Nelda Spencer spent the weekend in Salt Lake City. Cloma Napolitano of Rhode Island is here visiting with Erma Gates. Erma also had Nile Schow and family, Sylvia Graf and some of her family. The Marvin Mounteers had daughters Marva and Peggy home. Cook Liston had Mark and family here from Sandy and Lee from Salt Lake City, Mark was going as Lee was coming. The Arnold Alveys had Raylene and friends Valorie Anderson and Randy Brown. Hal Shurtz and family spent the weekend in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Griffin, their son and family visited relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Loosie and baby stayed at the Quinn Griffin home The Beumont Griffins had Elemers Grandson, Steven Mooseman and eleven other young people here from Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bolgon were the chaperones and they planned to tour the area but got word that the father of one of the girls had been killed in a car accident so they left immediately. The Griffins had Shannon and Verna Partridge last week and their son Kenneth and wife Jan. Golda Cottam had her sister Margaret Henderson here from California. Euzell Cottam had daughter Dianne and kids here from Las Vegas. The celebration was successful, the rain made the rodeo rather soggy the first night but no one complained. The Sunday School and Primary took the first two places in the parade and Steeds Lumber Co 3rd. Vernon Spencer and Areola Gates will probably never be the same again after their part on the program which was MC'd by Lillian Coleman Crocket Dumas outdid himself in the square dance he taught a group of young people Delane Griffin and Keith Carter sang separate songs with guitar accompaniment, the Griffin cousins, Brent and Mike played two guitar numbers and the mouquettes and cheerleaders entertained Marilyn Ales played a clarinet solo accompanied by Areola Gates On that iwpular beverage coffee the price has really soared, one should keep it in a safe and heavily insured |
