Show I Tropic Voters Give Unanimous Approval For Water Project unanimously voted citizens affirmatively for a new water system with 92 yes votes. Citizens approved $15,000 revenue bonds and $20,000 ITROPIC-Tropic general obligation bonds to defray costs of developing a new water source; constructing a storage tank and supply main; replacing the present distribution system, installing chtorlnation equipment facilities, Fire hydrants and meters and acquiring the necessary land and rights-of-way. The funding for the total water system which will cost $492,000 comes from several different sources. A grant of $100,000 will come from the Four Comers Hegion; an F1IA grant of $259,000 will be receU-.d and also $133,000 F1IA loan at an interest rate not to exceed 6 percent per annum, and to be due payable within 40 years. The water rates will be $7 30 for the first 8,000 gallons used and 15 cents for each additional 1,000 gallons used. Mayor Mondell Syrett said they will begin construction this fall. |
