Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey The weather has been so warm the only snow left is on the North sides. We keep thinking the work will ease up but it just don't happen. Shirley Carter is in the Panguitch hospital recovering from major surgery; family members made trips to visit her and see her looking better with each visit. Marjie Spencer is back In the schoolroom but showing she has been ill. She said her mother, Lola Zenz has a new job helping to care for an invalid. Effie Spencer went to Montana to visit daughter, Effie Kae. The Frank Colemans took daughter, Deann to Richfield to the Doctor. Koleen Wayne took Bessie Griffin to Panguitch where they had medical checkups. Twila Mclnelly is home and reports family members in Salt Lake City feeling better. Lovell and Martha Twitchell went to Panguitch for Thanksgiving dinner at the Gillies home. Ivan and Nelda Willis had all of their family home for the holiday except Blaine and the Wayne Deans. There were twenty of them hopping around the family home. Minnie Davis took Sariah AVey to Cedar City, they pfcked up Leda Mae Foster for i day of shopping. The Ira Rustons also had business in Cedar City. The Chuck Birkmeyers had holiday company, Col. and Phoebe Tesky, Mr. and Mrs. Don McNelly all from Arizona. Jim Crandal had a visit from his kids, Lloyd and Betty Elliott of California. LaVern and Mary Griffin went to Las Vegas for the cold weather. Idella Imlay went to Delta with Glen and Coleen. Vernon Spencer took his parents, Andrew and Isabell to Richfield for a day of shopping. The Vergean Porters also had business there. The Rol Porters have Velma and Bunch Boulter of California here visiting. Music teacher, Ella Marie Buehn went home to Salt Lake City for Thanksgiving with her parents. She took two days to get back on account of icy roads. Darrell and Dianne Alvey and Evadean Liston accompanied Jerry Taylor to the Manti LDS Temple. Janet Ford of Antimony was a weekend guest of Jerry. The Gary Fontaines stayed overnight in Cedar City and attended the annual Seminary Christmas dinner. Millie Mclnelly accompanied Gwen and Randal Lyman to Idaho for Thanksgiving. Ruth and Curly Hale spent the holiday in St. George with son, Arthur and family. They came home then made a trip to Panguitch in the snow storm Darlene and Donald Griifin went to Provo to visit family members. Emmorn Dodds went to New Mexico to get Janet and ".ick Gloria Grade and neire Law rue came from Salt Lake City to get more of Gloria's belongings. The ouutooi science program under the direction of Edson Alvey is creating considerable interest. It consists of fifteen trips set up for students and adlts in separate groups. They meet at 10 a.m. in the church for 4 hour explanation, then at 1 p.m. go to the place described earlier. Last Friday Hal Shurtz took his 6th grade to Spooky Gulch, of course Edson was along and Saturday Mr. Alvey took the 8th grade boys. Anyone interested in going get in touch with Edson. Friday there was an outstanding parade with prizes won. 8th grade first prize, 2nd place went to the 11th grade and the 12th grade took third. A dance was held at night with the Rumpus Orchestra imported from Cedar City. Saturday the Alumni game was pplayed. There has been unusual interest in the Adult classes; basically they were set up for people who did not graduate from High School but other people can enroll. There is still some room left in the woods class and womens physical fitness, there are also some sewing classes planned. If you are interested call the high school. Bill Smith is here on furlough, he is taking Kathy and son to Colorado where he will be stationed now. When friends mail you a post card, "wish you were here" they say, could it be they're bragging because they are away? |
