Show lie Knows It. Editor Dispatch: It seems to me that the Enquirer is getting down to unusually small business when it attacks at-tacks '1 UK Dispatch so unmercifully (?) as it thinks, in relation to its vast su-peiiorily su-peiiorily over Thk Dispatch, when in point of fact the Enquirer falls behind your paper in that truly essential quality qual-ity that Greely so earnestly advocated, viz ; local news. Due credit is given the Enquirer for its telegraphic enterprise, but it ought to know that the people of Utah are more interested in local happenings than they are in what some St. Louis lieptibiicans are dointr, or some G. A. Pi. spotters are doing in Detroit, Mich. What occurs in Utah is of vastly more interest to all but a few (very few) transients tran-sients who buy an Enquirer at the news I stand. j If the paper would fill its columns j with reprint fiotu The Dispatch and give its readers less plate matter, every I page being alllicted more or less, and i decidedly less twaddle about its super-j super-j iority '? over the "makeshift," a title is must have rustled in its own office, as it has been a sorry makeshift from the time of its first inception, and as such is most decidedly filling that role at present. 'i he writer of this has been a steady patron of the Enquirer for eight years, not only as a subscriber, but in many other ways, and its vile attacks have most thoroughly disgusted me, v orse than any of its past vituperation and paucity of local news. An Eigiit-Yeak Enquirer Patron. Pkovo Cirr, August 12, LS'Jl. |
