News over the wiles stales that the United States department of agriculture agricul-ture liiiutall expedition, at Midland. Texas, has so far made two successful experiments;. One of the party, in an interview, said; Last Saturday and Monday a preliminary trial of part of ti.e rain-making apparatus was had, and about ten hours after tiie explosion heavy clouds gathered and rain fell over many miles oi surface. We do not think tiie explosions actually produced pro-duced the storm, but they were undoubtedly instrumental in precipitating pre-cipitating the moisture whi'h clouds brought to that locality and greatly increased the intensity of the storm. The amount of the preciid-tatioii preciid-tatioii was the greatest in the vicinity of the oprat ion. We will continue to make tests as to t he density of the atmosphere at-mosphere so that bombs may be adapted to meet every possible cond ition. When suiliciently satisfied upon these and similar points a, decisive experiment will be made. The rain to day was the first good rain in this vicinity for several sev-eral months. ; st ippul on the Fair buildings.
